    Specialist on Kigali Implementation Program Preparation

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Draft work plan for drafting and finalizing of Kigali HFC implementation plan project document for stage I for Senegal, Chad, and Guinea.
    • Submission of draft Kigali HFC implementation plan project document for Senegal, Chad, and Guinea for review and comments by UNEP and the relevant countries. 
    • Finalize and submit draft Kigali HFC implementation plan project document for Senegal, Chad, and Guinea to UNEP with consideration of the comments received from UNEP and from the countries. 
    • Provide information to UNEP as requested from the Montreal Protocol Multilateral Fund Secretariat during the review process. The consultant will revise the Kigali HFC implementation plan project documents in consultation with the respective National Ozone Officers based on comments, if any, received from the Multilateral Fund Secretariat. 
    • The consultant shall consider actions in the data collection, consultations and preparation that will allow gender policy and efforts to be integrated within the strategy and Regional Kigali HFC Implementation Plan as much as possible.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in engineering or environmental science or related area is required. A first university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.  Minimum 10 years of experience on Montreal Protocol activities and projects data collection and management  is required.  Ten years’ verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Knowledge of technical issues relating to ozone depleting substances, experience in the implementation of Montreal Protocol activities and experience in data collection, and management of HCFCs consumption is an added advantage.

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
