Sports Coach at Makini High School

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To deliver quality lessons/sessions for varying ages at the school.
• Build productive relationships with partners from a range of different sectors.
• Design individualized programs to meet the participant's interests, abilities and goals.
• Provide lesson plans as appropriate.
• Submit and maintain skill sheets, lesson logs and attendance information.
• Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and 
• practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe. 
• Tend to accident or emergency situations in accordance with accident/incident protocols and/or emergency action plans.
• Responsible for enforcing rules and discipline appropriately where required. 
• Maintain a high level of self-control during times of crisis and stress.
• Facilitate Physical Education classes for pupils.
• Undertake additional duties as may be required from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and other Abilities

• Proven track record managing sporting activities in a learning environment.
• A secure understanding of the needs of elite performers.
• Ability to prioritize and schedule activities.
• Demonstrable ability to plan logistics for short, medium and long term targets.
• Has experience in selection, retention and player release procedures.
• Has/will attended Child Safeguarding and First Aid courses.
• Is capable of instilling discipline and to take full responsibility for group behavior.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues 
• Able to encourage creativity and contribution from others. 
• Committed to the school’s improvement. 
• Shows integrity and is fair, equitable and ethical in approach. 

Qualifications and Experience

• Some experience in coaching in a learning institution preferred. 
• Prior supervisory experience and experience in sports coaching.
• Possess strong leadership qualities and a passion for taking the sporting activity to the next level and beyond
