Job Summary

To offer psychological support to distressed study participants identified in the health workers’ well-being and resilience study in Nairobi.

Responsibilities

• Fieldwork Support
  • Attend training on overview of the study and familiarize themselves with study resources.
  • Lead the development of professional, effective and appropriate psychosocial support for study participants in distress.
  • Receive referrals from study Research Assistants & Field Enumerators and follow-up on care.
  • Make diagnoses of psychological issues study participants may be suffering from such as depression, anxiety, burnout among others.
  • Provide professional and confidential one-on-one counselling services (4-5 sessions per person) to study participants with psychosocial challenges.
  • Identify and appropriately refer participants to seeking support or services where necessary.
  • Prepare notes and anonymized reports of counselling sessions for review by the study team.
  • Actively participate in the process of troubleshooting on any issues affecting or may affect study field operations.
• Data Management
  • Ensure confidentiality and ethics are adhered to while assisting distressed participants.
  • Safeguard data collection devices and tools.
  • Ensure proper storage of all records and raw data.

Requirements

• A Diploma Degree in Counselling, Psychology or other allied fields. A bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Experience working with health care workers. 
• Proficiency in tele-counselling is required.
• Familiarity with research ethics and experience taking informed consent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work within tight schedules. 

Relevant Experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in providing counselling services.
• Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Good knowledge and research data management.
• Excellent demonstrated teamwork and coordination skills.
