Substation Secondary Systems / Testing & Commissioning Engineer at Peoplelink Consultants Ltd

 Job Overview

• Responsible for the end-to-end installation, testing, integration, commissioning, and maintenance of Substation Secondary Systems (SAS, PMU, RTU, Telecom, Protection & Control, and M&D systems) in HV/EHV substations, ensuring compliance with international standards, utility guidelines, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation & Integration: Supervise and execute the installation and wiring of SAS, PMUS, RTUS, telecom infrastructure (SDH/MPLS, optical fiber), monitoring systems, protection relays, and auxiliary power supplies (UPS, Diesel Generators, transformers).
• Testing & Commissioning: Conduct pre-commissioning, Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and integrated system testing. Configure and test IEC 61850, SCADA protocols (IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus), and perform point-to-point signal verifications.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose hardware, software, and communication faults, perform root cause analysis, and support system upgrades and preventive maintenance.
• Documentation & Safety: Manage test records, punch lists, progress reports, and review single-line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules while strictly adhering to HSE standards

Qualifications & Competencies Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Substation Automation, Protection & Control, or Commissioning for HV/EHV substations across utility, EPC, OEM, or transmission projects.

Technical & Operational Knowledge:

• Good understanding of local utility practices, building power systems, and relevant substation standards; capable of working under tight commissioning deadlines and outage schedules.
