    Tax Accountant

    Introduction    

    The job holder is responsible for all tax compliance matters to ensure all risks relating to tax are well managed and KWAL is in compliance with the relevant applicable tax laws.    

    Tax Planning and Reporting

    1. Incorporate the Tax calendar for all applicable taxes in the KWAL operational manuals.
    2. Ensure timely and correct filing of all tax returns for excise duties, VAT, corporation tax and withholding taxes.
    3. Ensure timely and accurate computation of taxes due, payment thereof and full compliance with legislation.
    4. Monitor release of new tax laws across KWAL’s operating territories to ensure compliance.
    5. Provide guidance to the business on areas that may impact on tax compliance and the associated tax cost.

    Tax Management

    1. Prepare and maintain reconciliations on a monthly basis for all general ledgers relating to excise, & stamp duty liability, VAT, corporation and deferred taxes and withholding taxes.
    2. Review tax computations and records to confirm they are done in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards and the applicable laws and regulations in Kenya.
    3. Liaise with relevant revenue authorities (i.e. KRA, etc.) and tax consultants to resolve tax matters that arise periodically in collaboration with the management and tax accountant.
    4. Implement systems for collating and analyzing tax data to provide relevant management information and reports to specified stakeholders.
    5. Ensure timely forecasting and application for excise stamps from KRA after liaising with sales and Production department.
    6. Ensure proper accountability and full compliance on all inputs relating to Excise Stamp management including system processes and monthly usage reports.

    Requirements    

    1. Bachelor Degree in a business related studies or equivalent.
    2. Partial (Level II) Professional qualification in Finance or Accounting
    3. At least five (5) years’ post qualification experience with exposure in tax management.
    4. Practical experience in use of MS packages and ERP systems.
