    Technical Assistant, Mwea and Kilimanjaro 2 Farms

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Provide growers with assistance in the conduct of site selection, seed preparation, seeding, and management, harvesting and sampling operations, record keeping, data entry and analysis.
    • Ensuring good quality product as per the specifications.
    • Undertaking regular self-assessment of the farmers against the Ngong veg QMS and other external standards.
    • Training of the growers on various operational issues as guided by the training Matrix.
    • Advising the growers on pesticide and fertilizers to apply in the field.
    • Stocking the farmers’ pesticides and seeds and ensure allocation as per the requirement and that stock management is well handled
    • Promoting sustainable and acceptable crop production methods.
    • Supervise and ensure GAP is followed.
    • Maintaining Ngong Veg Scheme Certification programs.
    • Preparing periodic reports as required from time to time.
    • Supervising and coordinates activities of graders engaged in grading produce according to assigned company specification.
    • Ensuring all the farmers records are well documented and up to date at all times
    • Ensuring the farmers have all the required structures as per the requirement of standards
    • Prepare the farmers for global gap certifications
    • Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by their manager from time to time.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Degree/Diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture or other related field.
    • 5 years or more experience in the industry
    • Should have excellent strategic planning skills.
    • Must have strong communication skills.

    Desirable

    • Should have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Must be process driven, self-motivated, develop and work as part of a team and possess strong management, organisational and communication skills.
    • Thorough knowledge in usage and handling of agricultural equipment, chemicals and fertilizers.
