    Terminal Engineer

    Job Description

    The Terminal Engineer is responsible for

    • Planning, organizing, initiating and supervision of all maintenance works and projects within the Terminal, This includes the operations of the 12" fine and the booster pump located at Kipevu terminal.
    • Handling Opex & Capex budget in liaison with the Terminal Manager
    • Supervision: Direct: 3 (2 are outsourced), all contractors working on site depending on the work
    • Implementing and supervising all maintenance works.
    • Planning and implementing routine maintenance and statutory inspections.
    • Planning, design and implementation of approved projects.

    Context and environment

    • Safety incidents resulting from violation of HSE policy e.g fire, injury caused by contractors.
    • Loss of business from unscheduled stoppages due to poor maintenance carried out by contractors.
    • Loss of product as a result of poor calibration of meters.
    • Poor quality of works by contractors resulting in frequent breakdowns and high operation and  maintenance cost.
    • High risk due to operations out side the terminal facility along the roads where security is not a guarantee.
    • High integrity required as there constant exposure to the independent product brokers who can easily compromise staff in ex — change of pilferage.
    • Errors in pump operations that can cause material failure along the line leading to product spill into the sea and land.

    Candidate profile

    • A degree in Engineering.
    • Minimum 2 years in maintenance of oil installations.
    • Planning ,organizational and supervisory skills.

    Additional Information

    The above-mentioned vacancy has arisen within the Logistics Fuels & Aviation Section, Operations Department. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following: -

    • Ensure that Terminal plant and equipment is maintained and serviced regularly by developing a maintenance schedule in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and strictly following up,
    • Ensure that projects implementation is executed timely, safely and within budget by sticking to approved bill of quantities and budget.
    • Ensure that statutory inspections and calibrations are carried out in time by developing a schedule and
    • following up with approved bodies for the works.
    • Ensure that all Maintenance works and projects are implemented in line with the company's HSEQ policy by
    • ensuring Permit to work system and Job safety analysis are carried out for all works.
    • Control Operating and maintenance costs of equipment by reducing breakdowns through ensuring right use, proper handling and training of users.
    • Ensure continuous improvement of equipment and plant by carrying out analysis of relevance and sufficiency and advising need to upgrade or improve
    • Any other duties commensurate with this role.
