Responsibilities

• Controls steam-driven turbo generators in electric power generating station: Starts or signals auxiliary-equipment operator to start turbines and boiler auxiliary units.
• Monitors panel board to control operations of turbines to detect equipment malfunctions.
• Stops turbines when malfunctions occur, following operating instructions.
• Records instrument readings at specified intervals.
• May perform minor maintenance or equipment, using hand tools.
• When controlling operation by remote control, may be designated Central-Control-Room Operator.
• Know how to start and stop boilers and the turbine/generators in a safe and efficient manner and bring them on and off line either manually / automatic as per plant design with respect to require safety.
• Maintain the determined electrical production output
• Monitor, test and maintain proper power plant chemistry
• Follow Company Policies and Procedures
• Control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, or reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in mechanical engineering, plant option.
• 2-3 years experience in turbine operation and maintenance.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure to meet assigned targets.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Hands on experience in turbine operation and maintenance.
• Ability to perform PM, CM and emergency maintenance of the turbines.
• Experience in power generation setting preferred.
• Hands on knowledge of gearbox operations and maintenance.
