We are looking for a Venture Builder Associate with a strong strategic and conceptual mindset to support the venture-building team in analyzing systemic issues, ideating innovative solutions and building sustainable business models.
Core Responsibilities
Perform in-depth research and root cause analysis into the systemic and ecosystem issues, following our internal venture-building methodology.
Support the ideation and design of desirable and scalable game-changing business concepts.
Support product management through defining and refining the “market – value proposition – product” triangle.
Quickly pilot and test different business models or assumptions.
Support the design of business concepts for scalability and replicability, leveraging technological innovation.
Support the set-up and growth of a venture: including hiring the venture team, building foundations of operations, financial modelling, budgeting, setting legal compliance and more.
Raise funds (both grants and equity) - identify funders, prepare pitch deck, grant-writing and due diligence processes.
Engage and work with partners, both large and small organizations, commercial and non-commercial.
Who we are looking for!
You’d be perfect for the role if:
Working experience of at least 4 years, with preferably 2 years as either a co-founder or holding a leading role in a start-up (with >3 employees), management consultant or supporting businesses to grow and scale.
Education qualifications in business management, economics or a related field. Preferably a Masters degree but not a must.
High learning drive, and openness to constantly learn, empathize, shift perspectives where needed to operate in a dynamic industry
Ability to think conceptually, with a systemic & strategic lens are necessary; and can switch between entrepreneurial thinking and conceptual systems thinking.
Proven business and market development track record.
Knowledge and intuition with lean thinking concepts are necessary
Proven experience in co-building solutions/ ventures/ projects, along with a peer. We work in teams, with multiple venture builders jointly building a solution, and it is important that you believe in a team approach to entrepreneurship
Strong communication skills with significant experience in public speaking, and in operating in multi-functional, multi-cultural teams
Experience in innovation, business modelling and/or product design is an advantage
The ideal candidate is fluent in English and can work independently. The person will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and we’re specifically looking for a local candidate.
