VP Engineering at Wasoko

About The Role

The VP of Engineering - Wasoko Commerce Platform will own the core platform infrastructure that powers Wasoko commerce. You will own core order, customer and item workflows along with payment infrastructure. You will also own seamless integration with our third party logistics management systems that power our warehousing and last mile routing. Your portfolio will also include engineering teams for select product streams for tools and services built on top of the core commerce platform - namely mobile apps, financial services and public API gateway.

This is a very critical role where you will have the opportunity to shape core technology strategy at the most senior levels. This role will report to the CTO. You will also partner closely with a range of product and business leaders in this role. Additionally, this role will also act as the most senior leader of Wasoko’s India engineering center. The leader will represent the brand of Wasoko and share our passion for transforming the fastest growing continent in the world. You will be key to attract and manage some of the best talent for Wasoko.

About You

You are someone who has had experience building full cycle products in a fast paced, highly dynamic digital product environment. You hold strong product and engineering instincts that help you get to the heart of the problem quickly. You have a natural aptitude to deal with ambiguity when market conditions evolve quickly. Agile comes naturally to you. You are used to breaking down big ideas into small testable pilots to gradually form your grand technology plan. To defend against such rapid rate of change, you also embrace best of software reliability engineering principals across monitoring, alerting, and test-driven continuous release management. Fundamentally you are a proven technology and people leader who delivers.

Requirements:

• 15 years of product development experience
• Experience leading engineering teams of 50+ people
• Deep experience in B2B, Payments and/or Consumer ecommerce
• Experience building distributed engineering systems that scale rapidly in cloud env
• Passion for software reliability engineering and familiarity with CI/CD tools
• Expert at driving root causing and process improvement on production issues
• Self starter and self driven - ability to get into weeds and problem solve
• Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering or analytical discipline
• Travel up to 20% required

Great to have:

• Full life cycle product experience that drove mass adoption in startup env.
• Experience managing engineering teams in multiple culture or geographies
