Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat Recruitment

About Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat

The Kenya Vision 2030 is the national long-term development blue-print that aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrialising, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment. The Vision comprises of three key pillars: Econom... read moreic; Social; and Political. The Economic Pillar aims to achieve an average economic growth rate of 10 per cent per annum and sustaining the same until 2030. The Social Pillar seeks to engender just, cohesive and equitable social development in a clean and secure environment, while the Political Pillar aims to realise an issue-based, people-centred, result-oriented and accountable democratic system. The three pillars are anchored on the foundations of macroeconomic stability; infrastructural development; Science, Technology and Innovation (STI); Land Reforms; Human Resources Development; Security and Public Sector Reforms. Enhancing our Country's Wealth The Vision was officially launched by the Grand Coalition Government in July 2008. The adoption of the Vision 2030 built on the successful implementation of the 'Economic Recovery Strategy for Wealth and Employment Creation' (ERS 2003 - 2007), saw the country's economy back on the path to rapid growth since 2002, when GDP grew from a low 0.6% and rose gradually to 6.1% in 2006. Implementation The Kenya Vision 2030 is to be implemented in successive five year Medium-Term Plans (MTP), with the first such plan covering the period 2008 - 2012. While the 'flagship' projects are expected to take the lead in generating rapid and widely-shared growth, they are by no means the only projects the country will be implementing. A flagship project only sets the pace for multiple vessels behind it. By the same token there are many on-going projects and yet others planned for the future by the Government and the private sector. The full details will be found in the Kenya Medium-Term Plan for 2008 - 2012. As the current MTP nears completion, the Ministry of Planning and National Development and Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat is reviewing its progress and lessons learnt. This will inform the development of the next MTP 2012 to 2017 to include stakeholder participation in line with the Kenya Constitution 2010.
