    Research Executive

    ABOUT YOU

    As a Research Executive, you will participate in projects from commission to completion, including research design, questionnaire development, qualitative and quantitative research. You will be part of an exciting team charged with the implementation, analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative research studies and undertake desk research where necessary, ensuring that all findings and conclusions are clearly and accurately presented and fulfil the required project objectives.

    In addition, you will be responsible for recruiting research participants, contributing to the design of research instruments, undertaking primary fieldwork and data analysis, and contributing to final research reports. You will report to the Primary Research Manager within the Primary Research Department.

    Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

    • A minimum of two (2) years working experience gained in a research role.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
    • Great knowledge of handling large data and data analysis fundamentals.
    • Advanced knowledge of Statistical analysis software such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and STATA and/or qualitative research analysis tools such as NVivo.
    • Data cleaning, data manipulation and data linkage.
    • Knowledge and exposure to qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies.
    • Working knowledge in undertaking face-to-face interviews and focus group discussions.
    • Ability to manipulate, analyse, interpret and develop materials to support the communication of complex information in a client friendly fashion using written and visual presentations.
    • Experience in designing online, telephone and street surveys plus discussion guides.
    • Advanced computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced excel skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Scoping research projects with clients, developing ideas of your own for external research projects, and delivering those projects.
    • Take part in the planning of research projects, data analysis, interpretation and reporting the results, drawing conclusions and making recommendations where appropriate.
    • Implement research protocols for field testing and field surveys.
    • Develop tools for sampling and data analysis specifications.
    • Create surveys and questionnaires and distribute them to the intended audience.
    • Organise, set up and undertake fieldwork including telephone and in-person interviews.
    • Undertake literature reviews as necessary to guide the approach and research methodology.
    • Supervise the work of research support/ field staff (e.g. data capture staff), ensuring that the research data produced is accurate through regular quality control checks.
    • Guide quantitative and qualitative data analysis providing descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, suggesting appropriate statistical tests to establish the significance of results and/or developing personas, customer/user journeys, story boards.
    • Tabulate and/or chart data to aid interpretation and reporting making recommendations to clients about how resulting information could be used
    • Contribute to the generation of new business through scanning for appropriate tendered opportunities and supporting the development of research proposals and quotes.
    • Support initiatives that drive development of new technical capabilities and or process improvements.

    Research Manager

    ABOUT YOU

    Reporting to the Primary Research Manager, you will be tasked with the successful delivery of research projects by undertaking research design, data collection and analysis and producing insightful, stimulating reports. You will take the lead in managing and delivering research projects, from scoping through to methodology and report writing, including managing, and developing client relationships.

    In addition, you will be an active member of the team, contributing to internal knowledge sharing, best practice development and team engagement. This is a great opportunity to use your existing team engagement and technical skills, while growing your capabilities within a rapidly expanding company.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Social Science or a related field with current membership/accreditation to at least one relevant national/international professional body.
    • At least 7 years’ experience with at least 2 years at a supervisory level managing and leading the execution of large research projects.
    • High level knowledge and exposure to quantitative and qualitative research methods and practices.
    • Experienced and skilled in research methodologies, analysis, working with web analytics data and tools.
    • Research design, such as devising interview and focus group topic guides, questionnaires, surveys, and evaluation frameworks.
    • Able to determine, synthesize and develop research solution to deliver insights to client.
    • Ability to drive documentation of processes to ensure utmost accountability to client expectations, highest level of integrity and upholding practice code of ethics throughout project execution.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced excel skills, project management tools and techniques.
    • Expertise with Excel, PowerPoint, preferably SPSS/SAS and time-series analysis tool, NVivo.
    • Hands on experience in managing end to end project.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    The Research Manager role covers a range of ad-hoc projects, typically involving quantitative and qualitative research, working with clients locally and internationally. With our focus on developing new and better research methods and sophisticated analysis techniques, this role offers the opportunity to gain experience of several novel and exciting approaches to conducting research and interpreting data.

    • Take the lead on the day-to-day management of a range of client accounts and be the first point of contact for these accounts - ensuring that customer expectations are managed and fulfilled in a pro- active manner.
    • Deliver a wide range of social research expertise; qualitative research such as focus group discussions, key informant interviews, ethnography and observational research; quantitative research such as longitudinal research, monitoring and evaluation as well as quasi methodology research.
    • Work with the Primary Research Manager and Research Director in business development from new and existing clients and proactively identify new business opportunities both in terms of research services and policy markets. Lead proposal and concept development and regularly update the projects Quals to support competitive proposal development.
    • Plan and manage resources effectively, including financial budgets.
    • Design quantitative and qualitative research tools and methods as well as conduct primary qualitative research and source secondary research.
    • Analyze, interpret, report and deliver qualitative and quantitative data. This includes producing insightful reports and other final outputs of projects (e.g. client presentations) to guide client decision-making process.
    • Develop and maintain our positive relationships with clients, acting as the main point of contact for the assigned projects.
    • Take an active part in / lead workshops and other collaborative sessions to analyze and model findings and develop conclusions.
    • Coordinate and organize teams and tasks, ensure project remains on task; and provide regular follow-up to on tasks to ensure that all project deadlines are met.
    • Contribute to the development and profile of our research expertise with clients, partners and key influencers.
    • Lead a team of junior researchers through supporting them in managing projects and training on research methodologies.
    • Keep up to date with new technologies and encourage the professional growth and development of staff in emerging areas of research where DR operates.

    Senior Analytics Executive

    ABOUT YOU

    You will report to the Data Processing Manager. You are a specialized executive tasked with analysing data using complex regression and predictive modelling techniques, creating analysis reports that capture insights from data, and coordinating with other departments/clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and of high quality.

    You will be an active team member, contributing to internal knowledge sharing, best practice development and team engagement. While the role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, it is a diverse role and will require frequent interaction and support of our team and clients in global locations.     • Support the delivery of projects and proposals within the Analytics subdepartment.
    • Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
    • Ensure that data analytics operations are properly documented to improve transparency and for future references.
    • Advise clients and the project teams on relevant statistical approaches such as descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and predictive modelling.
    • Exploring data to uncover trends and insights with the objectives of the project in mind.
    • Creating data visualizations to effectively convey findings using Power BI, R Shiny dashboard or Tableau.
    • Document data analysis results in a clear and concise manner.
    • Present data analysis findings to project teams or clients.
    • Liaise with other departments during proposal writing to inform the teams on data analytics procedures.
