Purpose of position
The Resource Development and Communications Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, planning, development, and management of a public and private sector fundraising and communications strategy to mobilize resources and position HFH Kenya in line with agreed strategic goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead HFH Kenya’s Resource Development team in developing and implementing a fully integrated fundraising and partnership resource development strategy including monitoring, analysing and documenting progress toward targets.
• Develop and maintain relations with global and local donors; foster a comprehensive, consistent approach to donor interactions across the Organization through regular in-country donor meetings, thank you letters, newsletters, reports or other communication media; identify and exploit new funding opportunities; deepen and systematize the engagement of global partners to ensure a robust donor voice in HFH Kenya’s work on housing and human settlement. • Develop and implement resource development work plans with effective use of staff and activities that are designed in line with country, regional and global strategies, prioritizing activities, monitoring progress and efficiency of implementation, promoting teamwork, identifying and resolving significant implementation problems and evaluating results.
• Monitor donor policies, trends and funding mechanisms for international development and provide advice to the Senior Management Team as well as technical staff for effective donor relations and proactive resource development
• Identify and respond to grant opportunities and maintain a grant tracking matrix as well as a grants database.
• Keep abreast with interests of individual, corporate, government donors, initiate contacts and develop concepts that would interest them in supporting HFH Kenya’s work.
• Monitor and follow up on the status of approaches to donors and pledges, to improve donor servicing and prepare forecasts of contributions, analyses and trends
• Ensure appropriate representation of the country office at strategic donor, partner and government meetings that could lead to resource acquisition and collaborate. Coordinate opportunities for National Director to meet with donors.
• Provide guidance to country staff on the development of resource mobilization proposals, donor agreements, donor reports, donor briefs and matters related to the fulfilment of the terms of contribution agreements
• Supervise the development of fundraising tools, programme funding requirement documents, partner updates, donor reports and articles for HFHK website.
• Supervise, coach and mentor direct reports by ensuring clarity of job descriptions, performance agreements, key performance indicators and regular reviews
• Ensure appropriate representation of the country office at strategic donor, partner, and government meetings that could lead to resource acquisition and collaboration.
• Develop creative and effective print and electronic marketing /public awareness material that utilize personalized stories/ testimonials, program outcomes and engaging images.
• Manage a positive public image of the organization by engaging locally-based media on the work the organization is doing and representing the organization in forums that align with the organization’s mission and vision.
• Manage and maintain a constantly updated website of the organization to communicate to the wider public on the organization’s mission and vision.
• Supervise, coach and mentor direct reports by ensuring clarity of job descriptions, performance agreements, key performance indicators and regular reviews
• Perform other related duties, including replacing and backstopping.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Advanced university degree in international or public relations, communications, business administration, international development, social science or related domain
• Professional certification or other specific training in resource mobilization
• At least 7 years’ experience in charge of fundraising and communications in a NGO or Not-For-Profit.
• Demonstrated experience preparing, writing and managing grants and contracts.
• Demonstrated creativity and productivity in resource mobilization, marketing and communications.
• Demonstrated ability to listen to and support programme staff and partners, and to work with communities in a sensitive and participatory manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Proficiencies in spreadsheet, networking and database management
• Attentiveness to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent research, information management and networking skills.

Purpose of position
The National Director provides overall leadership and management to HFHK, and guides the development and implementation of HFH Kenya strategy. S/he will represent HFHK vision, mission and values to all stakeholders. S/he will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization by ensuring resource mobilization, financial and programmatic support/management to staff and partners, partnership development and communications. The ND reports to the HFHK Board of Directors and liaises with the Program Manager from HFHI Europe, Middle East and Africa (HFHI EMEA) Area Office.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership and strategic management
• Guides the development and implementation of HFHK strategy and long term business plan that lead to increased positive impact on peoples’ housing conditions.

• In consultation with the HFHK Board of Directors ensures the fiscal, legal and programmatic integrity of the organization.
• The ND is responsible for accurate and timely reporting to relevant country statutory authorities, to HFHI and to donors.

• Recruits, develops, motivates, manages, and evaluates personnel, including staff, advisors, and volunteers, to promote the purpose and achieve the goals of the organization.
• Develops and implements effective training programmes and equitable human resource systems to invest in and retain quality as the primary asset of the organization.

Resource mobilization / Fundraising
• In collaboration with the HFHK Board of Directors and HFHI, the ND ensures that the mobilization of resources is adequate in order to achieve short-term and long-term strategic goals.
• Develops and implements, together with staff and HFHI, a fund raising strategy that mobilizes resources through diversified constituencies.
• Develops proposals to meet needs identified at community levels that can attract donor funding.

Relationships and advocacy
• Represents HFHK before the public authorities and other actors in Kenya, and is the main liaison person of HFHK with the media.
• Identifies, develops and maintains effective relations with all stakeholders, including government, bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies, donors and sponsors, partners and homeowners, and the public at large.
• Develops and implements, together with staff, a communications strategy to promote the organization programme and brand.
• Develops and implements, together with staff and the support of HFHI, an advocacy strategy to promote policies and systems that advance access to affordable housing.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree in development studies, social sciences, public/business administration, or equivalent work experience at appropriate level
• Minimum of 7 years management experience in international development contexts or at a similar level.
• Experience in program development and good knowledge of donors, including multilateral, institutional and corporates.
• Experience in managing donor-funded projects/programmes
• Community development experience will be a significant added advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of housing and human settlement sector both at national, regional and global level, and in particular on affordable housing matters.
• Resource mobilization, training and capacity building, coaching/mentoring skills
• Good understanding of key trends in international development
• Demonstrated financial management competence, including the preparation and management of budgets and contracts
• Strong project and people management skills
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.

Purpose of position
To offer accounting services to the organization and ensuring that all financial resources that come into the organization are recorded, tracked, and accounted for and used in fulfillment of the core mission of the organization of building and renovating houses that ensure families live in decent houses and decent communities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Finance Manager in the development, documentation, implementation, and monitoring of National Office’s financial transactions to ensure that transactions are recorded on an accurate and timely basis and financial reports are provided to stakeholders
• Maintains current knowledge of local government financial accounting regulations and ensure compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements
• Ensure the implementation of all internal control processes in all disbursements and transaction.
• Oversee the production and storage of financial data and reports for the organization
• Participate in the development of the annual budget and ensure that the National Office office is spending according to budget through preparation of monthly budget versus expenditure analysis
• Support with budget preparations for purposes of proposal development for donor funded activities.
• Assist the Finance Manager in preparation of the payroll and ensuring that all statutory deductions are remitted in a timely and consistent manner
• Supervise and ensure the integrity of data posted into the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers
• Supervise and provide support to direct reports ensuring bank and petty cash accounts are accurately and timely maintained, required supporting documentation for expenditure and journal batches are prepared and secured, and funds transfers are reconciled each month
• Posting of journals into the Financial Management System.
• Review monthly bank reconciliations.
• Conduct the month-end and quarterly end close process, including consolidation of project accounts, reconciliations, revaluation and preparation of financial statements
• Advise and implement financial policies and procedures while promoting best practices in all accounting activities
• Ensure standards for documentation; including forms, support documents and procedures for retention of documents including proper and systematic filing are observed
• Assist in the preparations for the year-end audit including providing all necessary documents
• Ensures comprehensive and constructive performance reviews are completed on a timely basis and facilitates discussion of performance and career options with staff under supervision.
• Act as the head of Finance in the absence of the Finance Manager
• Perform any other duties as directed by your supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration.
• Professional accounting qualification to Certified Public Accountant Kenya or ACCA
• At least 5 years and above of middle level working experience in a busy accounting environment in a NGO or Not-For-Profit sector.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
• In-depth understanding and proficiency in the use of accounting systems particularly SunSystems.
• Ability to train and support field finance and program staff in accounting matters
