    IECHP Manager

    Job Description

    Defining, coordinating and monitoring all the IEC( Information, Education, Communication) Health Promotion activities in the project and promoting MSF services according to MSF principles, protocols and standards in order to increase the knowledge of the target population around their health, the support of preventive activities and the collaboration to improve the services

    Accountabilities

    1. Defining and updating the HP/IEC strategy and related activities through annual project and budget plan (objectives, target population, campaigns, messages, activities, specific actions, etc.).
    2. Assessing knowledge of the target group on a health risk and analyzing the context (local culture, traditions, habits, health perception) to adapt health activities and support the social mapping (villages, populations, actors),
    3. Identifying indicators in order to monitor HP activities results and achievement and using the concrete tools to measure and follow up those activities
    4. Assessing, developing and adapting IEC/HP materials according to the needs of the project. Ensuring content and format have been pre-tested with target groups in order to ensure the adequacy, relevance, full understanding of the messages. Leading focus-group discussions with target groups in order to ensure the adequacy, relevance, broadcasting and full awareness of the messages, ensuring they are worded in a pedagogic manner
    5. Liaising with other relevant actors (national and International NGO’s , authorities) also involved in prevention activities, analyzing interventions and building cooperative relationships and advocacy, in order to enhance the influence of the campaigns and messages and to improve awareness among the targeted population;
    6.  Ensuring regular collaboration and coordination with the MSF medical team, to guarantee that the HP is part of medical activities and contribute to the medical objectives of the project
    7. Knowing protocol(s) for Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV), AYPs with sepcial focus on AYKPs and ensuring its application. Identifies possible victims of SGBV, AYKPs, and referring them to the medical team for treatment according to protocol(s)
    8. Supervising the IEC/HP team and their activities, in and outside health facilities, reporting difficulties and progress as well as adapting format and content when necessary. Planning and supervising the HR associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, development and internal communication) of the IEC / HP staff of the project. This will be done in close coordination with the HR department, the administration manager, project coordinator and Mombassa Department of Health and according to MSF vision, values and procedures. Ensuring that HP/IEC participates in counseling services when needed. including Prevention Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT) and Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) 
    9. Participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (SitReps, statistical reports, etc.)

    Requirements

    1. Education: Essential, university degree in social sciences, social communication, health promotion or related studies

    Experience: 

    1. Essential, working experience of in related jobs (health promotion, project coordination, social research), preferably with MSF
    2. Experiences working with AYKPs is a plus

    Languages: English and Kiswahili

    Knowledge: Computer literacy

    Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude, organized, autonomous and attentive to details.

    Social Worker

    Job Description

    Carrying out all activities involving social support to individual patients/survivors and linking them with other relevant support services and communities at large, according to MSF principles and guidelines. Enhancing the target population’s social condition to have an impact on health-related outcomes.

    Accountabilities

    1. Conducting social assessments, identifying the social support needs of patients/survivors, including legal, protection, shelter/housing, financial/vocational, food security, and access to medical and psychosocial support services beyond the project intervention scope.
    2. Supporting the provision of comprehensive care to patients(target groups) and their families, by actively coordinating their work with the other members of the MSF multidisciplinary team (eg. medical, MHPSS) and linking with multi-sectoral services such as protection, safety, security, legal, justice, education, and livelihood.
    3. Providing direct social support based on social assessments and facilitating referrals to evaluated external re-sources. Provide systematic follow up care regarding attendance of clinical appointments, and following up on referrals made to relevant multi-sectoral services aimed at improving the quality of life of patients/survivors.
    4. Participating in the creation and maintenance of any material needed for the activities of social workers, including facilities and equipment in order to ensure continuity.
    5. Mapping and regular updating of formal and informal support services (incl.existing community resources). Assess quality of existing support services, with identification of gaps and advocacy for an improved culturally appropriate social response.
    6. Maintaining records, statistics, files, and reports on all social work activities and follow up care either provided by MSF or other support services. Identifying gaps in the available services and with the team prioritizing and developing plans following the objectives of MSF.

    Requirements

    1. Education: Bachelor degree in Social Work (BSW)

    Experience: 

    1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health Promotion Activities
    2. Essential, working experience of in related jobs (health promotion, project coordination, social research), preferably with MSF
    3. Experiences working with AYKPs is a plus

    Languages: English and Kiswahili
    Knowledge: Computer literacy
    Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude, organized, autonomous and attentive to details.
