    Credit Guarantees Intern

    Objective

    This scope of work seeks to recruit an intern to offer administrative assistance from a Kenyan national to support the National Treasury to implement a successful credit guarantee scheme for MSMEs in Kenya.

    Scope of work

    The credit guarantee scheme is domiciled under Financial and Sectoral Affairs Department (FSAD) which is under the directorate of Budget, Fiscal and Economic Affairs (BFEA). The scheme is implemented by a dedicated project implementation unit (PIU) that oversees the technical and operational functions required to successfully implement the scheme. The intern will be expected to support various elements of implementation as and when required.

    Conduct of the work

    The intern will be under the direction of, and report to, the Credit Guarantee Scheme Manager.

    Tasks

    • Workshop reports and Minutes
    • Inputs in Credit Guarantee Framework Development
    • Supporting administrative roles in Credit Guarantee operations
    • Supporting the preparation of the Credit Guarantee reports
    • Filing of Credit Guarantee Scheme documents
    • Any other deliverable requested by the scheme Manager from time to time.

    Required Qualifications

    • Degree in Economics, Finance, Development Policy or a related course
    • Minimum 1 year experience working in financial services sector or a relevant industry.
    • Concrete understanding of the Kenyan financial sector.
    • Ability to learn new skills and adopt in a busy office environment.
    • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite.
    • Previous exposure working with guarantees will be an added advantage.

    Senior Associate, Data Analyst & Data Visualization

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the IS portfolio to develop data strategies specifically around data structures, identification of critical information, as well as the tools used to discover analytical data
    • Perform research, aggregation, and analysis on large data sets - data exploration, trending, modelling, etc.
    • Develop and generate high quality dashboards, information products, and infographics to generate meaningful use of data for decision making
    • Develop technical documentation including SOPs, user guides, training materials and other related documents
    • Influence interventions by generating understandable, actionable, data-driven insights and data visualization products that that visually identify key themes
    • Work with technical advisors to understand, clarify and document data analysis and reporting needs
    • Advise and build capacity of country project teams on data analytics and visualization fundamentals, effective dashboards design, and agile dashboard development approach.
    • Develop structures for improving data storytelling using dashboards, such as narration of animated charts to highlight key points
    • Collaborate with DIAS and country project teams responsible for project outcomes to determine the most effective and efficient ways to capture and visualize data and provide support accordingly
    • In collaboration with other relevant technical counterparts across DIAS, contribute to the company’s growth plan to strengthen information systems, data analytics, and data use
    • Keep abreast with the most current global trends and standards in data analytics and visualization and recommend data architecture and engineering structures necessary to support data mining, reports, analytics, and dashboards

    Key Competencies Required:

    • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and agile environment with cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives
    • Experience working with large datasets (on relational as well as non-relational data stores) and excellent understanding of metadata, aggregate and client-level data
    • Experience in data discovery and analytics development with recent proven experience developing data visualizations, dashboards, and reporting
    • Proficient in data analysis, interpretation, and packaging of information products for different audiences including decision makers, thought leaders, and international donors
    • Experience in creating interactive dashboards and data visualization using BI tools e.g. (Tableau, Power BI and other tools)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to mentor and train through a variety of methods including online, face-to-face, or blended learning opportunities
    • Strong program management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
    • Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks and balance competing priorities effectively and efficiently often within a required timeframe

    Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:

    • Advanced understanding of statistical packages such as Stata, SPSS, Epi, QGIS or similar would be an added advantage
    • Strong understanding in query/reporting tools, SQL, Advanced Excel, (or similar visualization tool), R/Python or, other statistical tools

    Technical Advisor, Business Analyst

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Evaluate business processes, analyzing requirements, and uncover areas for improvement
    • Determine, develop, and document user requirements for supported solutions
    • Develop and successfully deliver stakeholder engagement strategy to support Business Analysis and Quality Assurance.
    • Lead the development and execution of Business Analysis and quality assurance strategies
    • Develop system front-end design plans and documentation based on user requirements
    • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using design and prototyping tools e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, moqups, InVision
    • Participate as an early team member, contributing to design of critical pages, interactions, and user experience elements
    • Plan for and co-ordinate user-side quality assurance and testing procedures including the identification of bugs, issues, and new requirements
    • Validate that requirements and user expectations are achieved during the testing process
    • Support development of systems documentation
    • Participate in business development initiatives and product development company wide

    Key Competencies Required:

    • Relevant experience in BA,UI/UX and QA
    • Experience in deployment and implementation of large-scale software projects in LMIC’s
    • Adequate experience in human centered UI/UX Design for large scale data driven software systems that support health or social development programs
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
    • Excellent software troubleshooting skills and strong attention to detail
    • Ability to coordinate and balance priorities of multiple projects and deliverables

    Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:

    • Previous work on international development projects
    • Ability to remain up to date on all current best practices, trends, and industry developments
    • Ability to maintain a high standard of work quality
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to moderate and facilitate multidisciplinary meetings
    • Ability to travel regionally and globally on short notice
    • Experience working with global good products such as OpenMRS, OpenHIM and DHIS2 will be an added advantage
