    Departmental Administrator

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Head of Department, the position holder will be among others be responsible for:

    1. Maintain the faculty login register and work with the HoD to ensure that all classes are attended.
    2. Assist students to register for units and examinations in a timely manner.
    3. Handle student/staff enquiries and follow up on their issues with respective offices.
    4. Timely solving of students’ issues and following up with the relevant offices to ensure matters are conclusively handled to the satisfaction of students.
    5. Preparation and timely issuance of attachment/teaching practice/exemption letters and logbooks.
    6. Timely administration of students’ nominal roll Preparation and timely issuance of exam attendance registers, course work registers, record of work registers.
    7. Ensure data on student population, attendance, disciplinary letters, students on attachment, projects submission reports, departmental reports, among others are organized and well-kept in reference to ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
    8. Relaying authorized information to other offices and members of the department on issues of concern including exam updates to students, invigilation, academic leave period among others.

    Qualifications, skills and Experience

    1. A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
    2. 2 years’ relevant experience in administration of academic/student customer service.
    3. Working knowledge of course /programs requirements, examinations bodies requirements.
    4. MS Office proficiency.
    5. A motivated self-starter with a high level of integrity.
    6. Good analytical and reporting skills.
    7. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

    Librarian

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the position holder will be among others be responsible for:

    1. Research and gather requirements for development of new digital initiatives and technology solutions for library services and provide support and instruction to library and other staff in the implementation, development and use of digital information sources, applications and equipment;
    2. Play a key role in the process of identifying, procuring and managing the next generation of print and
    3. E-Resources in line with the university strategy and teaching and learning developments;
    4. Monitor availability and accessibility, to ensure that the full range of subscribed E-resources are available to users, both on and off campus and work with service providers and suppliers to resolve any access and availability issues;
    5. Working as a member of the Library Management team, advice senior colleagues on matters relating to the application of emerging library trends, by identifying and implementing new approaches and best practice in the management of the library;
    6. Budgeting and managing the library budget ensuring proper utilization and accountability of funds.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    1. Masters’ degree in Library and Information studies from a recognized university.
    2. A minimum of five years’ experience as a Librarian in a university.
    3. Knowledge KOHA, Library accreditation requirements, and online subscription and usage.
    4. Must be computer literate and familiar with KLISC.
    5. Good customer service and problem-solving skills.
    6. Strong interpersonal and planning Skills.
    7. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Literacy And Writing Coordinator

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Head of Department, the position holder will among others be responsible for:

    1. Establish and run the reading, Writing and Learning Center.
    2. Create a supportive writing and reading environment in which mainly students can receive advice, guidance and constructive assistance with written tasks, assignments and other forms of writing.
    3. Empower students as writers, fostering their knowledge and skills in development, organization, style, and structure.
    4. Ensure the center has the necessary resources that are needed to assist the students operate in an environment that helps them to effectively write and read and practice the same.
    5. Provide support, feedback and advice for the students in the areas of both writing and reading to enable them communicate effectively.
    6. Deliver the course content to the students as expected and offer consultations to communication skills students.
    7. Supervise the writing projects for the students and offer necessary mentorship as need be.

    Qualification Skills and Experience

    1. A Master’s Degree in Communication from an accredited and recognized university.
    2. 2 years of teaching experience at university level.
    3. Computer literate with capability in emails, excel, word etc.
    4. Excellent Communication, reading and writing skills.
    5. Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving and organizational skills.
    6. Knowledge of the national and international communication and writing trends.
    7. Good analytical and reporting skills.
    8. Knowledge and understanding of CUE requirements, standards and guidelines.
