    Programme Officer- Safeguarding

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    Safeguarding Policy development and implementation

    • Coordinate development, review, and update safeguarding policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements, industry standards and changes in organisational risk or procedure.
    • Support and Coordinate implementation of robust systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of safeguarding measures.
    • Boost and embed a safeguarding culture that emphasise all employees’ role in safeguarding participants.
    • Foster a culture of accountability and transparency regarding safeguarding practices across all levels of the organisation.
    • Support the review of the established procedures for responding to safeguarding incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring that the approach is victim/survivor-centred
    • Act as the main point of contact for receiving and managing any safeguarding issues/matters and ensure accurate and timely reporting of safeguarding concerns to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
    • Facilitate investigation and responses to all reported safeguarding issues reported.

    Training and capacity building

    • Design and deliver comprehensive safeguarding training programs for staff, volunteers, and other relevant stakeholders
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure all personnel understand their safeguarding responsibilities

    Risk assessment and management

    • Coordinate and support thorough risk assessments to identify potential safeguarding risks within the organisation and in the programmes.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks effectively and ensure they are monitored
    • Foster partnerships with external agencies, government bodies, and community organisations to enhance safeguarding efforts
    • Represent the organisation in safeguarding-related forums, conferences, and working groups

    Resource Mobilisation

    • Participate/contribute to proposal development for FAWE’s program funding at the Regional Secretariat and National Chapter level includes supporting research on identifying potential funders and
    • Any other tasks assigned in relation to smooth management and coordination of FAWE’s programme work.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, International Development, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in a safeguarding role within an NGO or development agency.
    • Solid understanding of education and gender-related issues, including current challenges and trends in Africa and globally, as well as experience in policy advocacy, community engagement, and resource mobilization.
    • Completion of recognized local safeguarding certifications.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures applicable to children, youth and vulnerable adults.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively assess and manage complex safeguarding cases.

    Programme Officer (PWD and Refugees)

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    Programme Management- Support to program planning, implementation and evaluation (60%)

    • Fostering innovative inclusion strategies gender equity and transformative education principles, creating opportunities for PWD and Refugees in FAWE programming.
    • Leadership in building effective partnerships, new programmes and resource mobilisation for scaleup and/or replication.
    • Monitor quality assurance processes and systems to ensure the highest quality of the project implementation – education, gender and social inclusion.

    Capacity Building and Programme Development (20%)

    • Support internal assessment and recommend on capacity building needs for FAWE social inclusion components.
    • Guide on building and strengthening alliances with organisations working with PWDs and refugees.
    • Support National Chapters on social inclusion programming.

    Building and Strengthening partnerships – Global, Regional and National contexts (10%)

    • Build and support the partnership between project partners, national chapters and any other partners to strengthen FAWE social inclusion strategies.
    • Lead in advocacy to widen the civic space for African girls who are refuges and those with disability in all their diversity.
    •  Work closely with the other teams including advocacy and partnerships team to amplify and sustain PWD and Refugee voice as they demand the realization of their education rights.

    Resource Mobilisation (10%)

    • Resource mobilisation for social inclusion initiatives. This includes pitching ideas with development partners and support in negotiation meetings.
    • Provide technical input in funding proposals for social inclusion.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences such as Education, Gender and Development, Public Health, Political Science, Philosophy, Law, Project Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in the NGO sector.
    • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.
    • Demonstrated experience in building and managing strategic partnerships, particularly within multi-country consortiums involving diverse stakeholders.
    • Proven ability in writing high-quality reports and delivering impactful presentations, with a focus on project processes, outcomes, outputs, and deliverables.
    • Solid understanding of key issues related to education, gender equality, and social inclusion.

    Programme Assistant

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

     Provide Support to Programmes Implementation.

    • Support coordination of the programme staff for implementation as per Strategic Plan and Annual Work Programmes, may include support in leading/managing small/light grants projects
    • Support coordination and compiling reports from programmes team (monthly status report and annual reports) and National chapter semiannual and annual reports.
    • Assist to coordinate the application process for available scholarship opportunities in relation to FAWE programmes including commonwealth scholarship, African Girls Education Fund (AGEF).
    • Maintain an efficient filing and document retrieval system for project documents and any other relevant document. Includes assisting the DED in preparing, compiling and disseminating program materials and documents and coordinating meetings.
    • Coordinate and participate in programme meetings. Includes support to develop meetings calendars, send reminders, take minutes/notes, follow up on action points.
    • Managing events calendar for the programmes team.
    • Provide technical support to assigned FAWE National Chapters. Includes check-in calls with the chapters to establish areas of support, sharing FAWE Africa technical documents and organization documents for adoption and replication, ensuring the chapters submit quarterly reports.

    Resource Mobilisation

    • Support in proposal development for FAWE’s program funding at the Regional Secretariat and National Chapter level includes supporting research on identifying potential funders and
    • Coordinating meetings by DED/ED for resource mobilisation meetings/Negotiations including follow ups.

    Knowledge Management

    • Support coordination of monitoring and evaluation of projects/field visits and reminders on action points.

    Administrative Support

    • Manage the Memorandum of grants (MOGs) database. This includes assigning numbers to MOGs, updating the MOG database, reviewing memos and supporting the DED to track payments.
    • Manage the FAWE Alumni Database and assist in coordinating the Alumni activities across FAWE Network. Includes developing an alumni activities calendar for coordination among FAWE Chapters.
    • Manage DED’s agenda and facilitate DED’s appointments, meetings including travel and logistical arrangements.
    • Support relevant correspondences to the DED including relevant emails and follow-up calls
    • Support induction to the programmes team for new programme team members. Includes support programme team members to use programmatic templates e.g., reporting templates, workplans
    • Any other tasks assigned by the DED in relation to smooth management and coordination of FAWE’s programme work.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
    • At least 2 years of experience providing programmatic or operational support within an NGO or development agency environment.
    • Good understanding of education and gender-related issues, emerging challenges and trends in Africa and globally, as well as experience or knowledge in policy advocacy, community engagement and resource mobilization.
