    Reporting to the Managing Director Job purpose

    • This Job is responsible for advising the Board of Directors and Management on matters of corporate governance and implementation of the Mwongozo Code of Governance for State Corporations.
    • The job is also responsible for management of secretariat services to the Board, corporate and legal affairs of the Company.

    Key Responsibilities;

    Chief Pilot

    Reporting to the General Manager, System Operation and Power Management

    Job purpose

    This Job is responsible for management of the airwing and operating the Company’s helicopter for aerial inspections and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines and substations.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Providing leadership to the airwing team;
    • Ensuring compliance with regulations and licensing requirements by the airwing team;
    • Advising Management on regulations as issued by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) from time to time on operation of aircrafts and associated navigation equipment;
    • Implementing management and technological innovations to enhance efficiency in the airwing;
    • Planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance schedules of the Company helicopter;
    • Monitoring airwing unit performance and initiating necessary interventions;
    • Ensuring compliance with KCAA periodical Circulars on aircraft maintenance and crew training;

    Qualifications & Skills required

    • Valid Helicopter Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL)H / Commercial Pilot License (CPL) H;

    • Valid Radio Telephony License;
    • Valid Crew Resource Management Certificate (CRM);
    • Valid Dangerous Goods Certificate (DG);

    This Job is responsible for undertaking transmission system planning, preliminary design, system studies, and project development and monitoring & evaluation activities aimed at power transmission system reinforcement, power evacuation and increased electricity access: leading to the establishment of a world class power transmission grid comprising of robust, reliable, efficient and cost-effective high voltage.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Undertaking transmission system planning, preliminary design, system studies, project development and monitoring & evaluation activities aimed at power transmission system reinforcement, power evacuation and increased electricity access: leading to the establishment of a world class power transmission grid comprising of robust, reliable, efficient and cost-effective high voltage power transmission national grid and regional interconnectors.
    • Participating in carrying out detailed power system studies for short, medium- and long-term planning, network stability analysis and also prior to commissioning of critical components of the transmission systems.
    • Undertaking power system modelling for current and future national power transmission grid and regional interconnectors.
    • Assisting in the preparation and updating of standard technical design specifications for substations and transmission lines.
    • Drafting Terms of Reference (ToRs) for upcoming projects and consultancies to ascertain scope of assignment, qualification of consultants, project deliverables and project schedules.
    • Undertaking project pre-feasibility studies reports that provides preliminary viability of a project, and evaluate the necessity of full feasibility study.
    • Undertaking preparation of project feasibility study reports that provides transmission line preliminary route selection, preliminary environment loadings, substation location and feasibility level cost estimates, conductors and structural types, conceptual design criteria to establish the project viability.

    Job Purpose

    This job is responsible for undertaking tests, commissions and maintains Substation Automation and SCADA Systems of all KETRACO Substations, to allow for both Monitoring and Control of the substations both from the local Substations and from the Central SCADA system at the National Control Centre in Nairobi and to support data analysis, decision making and 99.99% system availability.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

    • Supervises Graduate Engineers and Technicians in section during operation and maintenance activities of Telecommunication systems.
    • Participates in review of substation Telecommunication, CCTV and Access control System project designs.
    • PerformstestingandcommissioningofnewTelecommunicationSystemsequipment.
    • Participates in preparation of specifications for Telecommunication equipment and systems as per the approved policies and procedures.

    Substation Operator (Craftsman)

    SUSBSTATION OPERATOR (CRAFTSMAN) – (KET 8) NINE (9 POSITIONS) REF: KET/5/1C/40/199/VOL I – B (12/23) ON PERMANENT & PENWSIONABLE TERMS

    Reporting to the Regional Engineer

    Job purpose

    The successful candidate will be for responsible for performing the maintenance and operation of substation electrical plant following approved maintenance plans in order to aid in guaranteeing system availability and reliability and to enable the company achieve its mandate regarding to operations and maintenance.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Participating in maintenance works for substation equipment following the approved company work method procedures and instructions while observing statutory environmental and safety regulations;
    • Generating maintenance reports for record keeping and future reference;
    • Carrying out routine inspections for transmission substations as per approved work instructions;
    • Operating transmission equipment as per instructions from the system controllers at the National System Control Centre (NSCC);
    • Carrying-out switching operations for maintenance and breakdown repair works under as per instructions from the controllers at NSCC;
    • Participating in the maintenance of primary substation equipment, auxiliary services and substation power supply systems;
    • Recording periodic data on system parameters at substations for senior technician’s review;

    Qualifications & Skills required

    • Certificate in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
    • Registered engineering technician with Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) or Institute of Engineering Technologists and Technicians of Kenya (IET);
    •  A minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience.
