    Gardener 1

    Job Description

    • This position ensures the temple grounds reflect the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience. Maintain standards established by the First Presidency. Perform gardener/grounds keeping work, maintaining and caring for landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, building entrances, and other assigned areas. Resolve routine questions and problems and refer more complex issues to higher levels. May assist with seasonal displays.

    Responsibilities
    Typical Gardener duties would be the following:

    • Must be worthy of a Temple Recommend
    • Mow lawns using hand and power mowers and maintains the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.  Water loans and garden areas.
    • Trims and edges around walls, flower beds, and walks using hand clippers and power edging tools. May operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment to maintain landscape.
    • Prune and shape shrubs and trees to provide optimum growth efficiency of plants and enhance beauty of grounds.
    • Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees for disease, weed, and insect control, and perform regular fertilization as needed, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Responsible to see that all power equipment and machines are properly maintained.
    • Provide guidance to volunteers in the maintenance of grounds.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Gardener.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma/ Certificate in Gardening & landscaping, agriculture, horticulture or any other related field.
    • Two to Three years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, gardening, agriculture, landscape design.
    • Knowledge of various plants and fertilizers.
    • Ability to follow directions, work independently and with a team.

    Custodian 2

    Job Description

    • This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can work, worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. Each Church facility that is built and/or maintained should provide a spiritual setting for members to worship, and present an image of reverence and dignity in the community. This position performs journey level custodial work.

    Responsibilities
    Typical Custodian duties would be the following:

    • Must be worthy of a Temple Recommend
    • Requires understanding of custodial procedures, supplies, and equipment.
    • Ability to operate assigned equipment such as: buffers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, etc.
    • Able to lift up to 23kgs, push carts of loaded material, bend, crawl, and/or reach desired locations.
    • Understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety.
    • Must be capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing, and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.
    • Must complete safety and equipment usage training.

    Qualifications

    • Clean all assigned areas to set standards.
    • Remove and replace draperies and curtains etc. and assist in setting up meeting rooms as requested.
    • Maintain good public relations. Report problems to Custodial Supervisor.
    • Experience working with cleaning agents and chemicals with the use of rubber gloves, masks or other safety equipment.
    • Knowledge and experience in the use of motorized equipment such as a vacuum and buffer.
    • May also be required to use hand tools.

    Supv,Security,Temple 3

    Job Description

    • This position ensures the temple ordinances are kept pure, recorded accurately and made available to worthy Church members by providing an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple. Maintaining and operating temples at standards established by the First Presidency. Protects and secures the sacred and temporal aspects of the temple or other church buildings including the structure, grounds, and ancillary structures and to protect the temple employees, patrons, and visitors by supervising, training, and scheduling security personnel, and by using appropriate electronic alarms and surveillance equipment.

    Responsibilities
    Typical Security Supervisor duties would be the following:

    • Must be worthy of a Temple Recommend
    • Responsible for  the orientation, and training of security personnel.
    • Supervise all security personnel, schedule and make personnel assignments to ensure proper security coverage.
    • recommend to the Temple Facilities Manager procedures and methods that reduce the temple's exposure to theft, vandalism, intrusion, liability issues, etc. This would include the installation, calibration, maintenance, and monitoring of electronic alarms and surveillance equipment.
    • Assist with inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards.
    • Available as needed for emergencies and assures all posts are properly covered.
    • Supervise the checking of building and grounds in the event of any threats; and conducts special investigation assignments
    • Communicate security matters to the Temple Facilities Manager as needed and on a regular basis, maintain an incident log and current incident reports.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations on personnel actions.
    • Establish and maintain close liaison with local law enforcement and fire prevention officials with communication procedures clearly defined for emergency situations.
    • May perform other duties as assigned by the Temple Facilities Manager.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or related field and three-years of experience in law enforcement; or five years or more in law enforcement experience or a combination of both.
    • Two years significant supervisory experience.
    • Must have demonstrated leadership and computer skills
    • Must be first aid and  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) qualified.
    • Experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment
    • Good oral and written communication skills required for dealing with wide range of patrons and visitors on a daily basis.

    • Assist in supervising temporary and volunteer personnel.
    • Water lawn and garden areas and may perform certain maintenance and modifications to automated and manual watering systems.

    Supv,Custodial,Temple 2

    Job Description

    • This position ensures that the temple reflects the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience.  Maintain temples at standards established by the First Presidency as outlined in the Temple Facilities handbook. Train, motivate, and supervise a crew of full and /or part-time custodians, church service missionaries or volunteers. Assist in custodial work to ensure that church buildings are always clean and orderly. Typically, responsible for 40,000 to 90,000 square feet and supervises a crew of 8-15 employees.

    Responsibilities
    Typical Custodial Supervisor duties would be the following:

    • Must be worthy of a Temple Recommend
    • Regularly supervises the work of other employees (may include a mixed workforce) and a crew of custodians by interviewing prospects, providing training, creating schedules, and assisting in performance management and assigning individual tasks.
    • Provides suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, improvement/advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of employees under their supervision.
    • Make decisions, under the direction of the Temple Facility Manager, on proper equipment, techniques, chemical and maintenance of church buildings.
    • Maintain discipline, performance and morale and provide opportunities for growth and development among custodial staff members. Monitor physical condition of all areas and reports maintenance and repair needs to Temple Facility Manager.
    • Organize and assist in maintenance closures including but not limited to: carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, coordinating contractor services, scheduling paid staff, volunteers, service missionaries and making a cleaning schedule.
    • May assist in training custodial lead, service missionaries and volunteers in a cluster temple.
    • May travel to cluster temples to assist in projects and training.
    • Initiate orders for custodial supplies and stay within budget.
    • Perform custodial work including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, mopping; cleaning kitchen/cafeteria, restrooms, carpets and upholstery; and washing windows.
    • Any other duties as assigned by Temple Facility Manager

    Qualifications

    • Degree or certifications in custodial maintenance or related field.
    • Three years of custodial maintenance or related experience, one year of supervisory experience.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Frequently moves tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs./23 kgs.
    • Knowledge of proper operation of equipment used in custodial work and able to trouble shoot equipment when problems arise. Ability to fix is an added advantage.
    • Good interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to adapt to a variety of different challenges.
    • Knowledge of different fabric, stone surfaces and carpet blends and how they are cleaned and maintained.
    • Knowledge of important aspects of custodial maintenance, including custodial supplies and cleaning chemicals.
    • Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations
