    Sustainable Transport Specialist

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • In close consultation with the UNEP Sustainable Mobility Unit Green Freight Leads and partner organizations, the consultant will be responsible for the following activities:
    • Activity 1: Technical Emissions Analysis
    • Develop and validate a harmonized Freight Corridor Emission Accounting Framework for the Bi-Oceanic Corridor.
    • Coordinate emissions data collection, ensure methodological consistency, and generate corridor-level emission intensity factors.
    • Support South–South knowledge exchange and capacity building in emissions accounting.
    • Activity 2: Policy Coordination and Harmonization
    • Conduct policy gap analyses and develop recommendations for harmonizing green freight regulations.
    • Establish an integrated corridor-level coordination mechanism combining policy dialogue and technical harmonization of vehicle emissions standards.
    • Facilitate stakeholder engagement processes that are inclusive, gender-responsive, and promote regional collaboration. The technical analysis produced under

    • Specifically, emissions accounting methodologies, freight decarbonization pathways, and policy gap analyses will serve as technical inputs for stakeholder consultations and the development of harmonized strategies among Bi-Oceanic Corridor countries.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in transport, sustainable development, urban planning, transport digitalization, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Minimum 2 years in sustainable mobility / air quality, ideally in Latin America is required.
    • Proven experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and emissions data management is required. Familiarity with GLEC Framework, CCAC projects and corridor-level interventions is required. Proven experience in designing and delivering policy documents is desirable

    Programme Management Assistant, G6

    Responsibilities

    • Provides assistance in support of planning and implementation of activities/processes for the Freshwater and Wetlands Unit, on its programme/project initiatives.
    • Researches, compiles, analyses, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific programmes/projects and related topics.
    • Assists in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation; monitors the status of programme/project proposals; takes necessary action to ensure project documents are completed and submitted to relevant parties for approval.
    • Assists in the preparation and analysis of programme/project budget proposals; provides assistance in the interpretation of budget guidelines; reviews and coordinates submissions of programme proposals and budget estimates, ensuring that requisite information is included and justified in terms of proposed activities; propose adjustments as necessary; prepares reports and ensures that outputs/services are properly categorized.
    • Assists in the monitoring and evaluation of programmes/projects; categorizes, updates, tracks and analyses data related to programmes/projects, e.g. accounting records, outputs, resources utilized, deviations/revisions, etc.; carries out periodic status reviews,
    • Maintains unit files, meetings and calendars; ensures awareness of and compliance with UNEP and Division-wide rules and regulations.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project administration, finance, reporting and project management is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to two (2) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with ERP systems, Business Intelligence and project structures is required.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of working experience within the United Nations system or a similar international organization is required. Experience in organizing activities, systematic follow-up, use of tracking tools, and knowledge of legal, budgeting and financial processes is desirable. One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Intern – Biodiversity Finance

    Under the direct supervision of the GEF Biodiversity Task Manager, the intern will assist the Biodiversity Finance Working Group. More specifically, the internship will have the following tasks:

    • Support to perform methodological research and analysis from diverse sources on nature and finance-related themes especially around metrics, indicators, and data.
    • Assist in monitoring of academic publications on related themes and convert these into digestible highlights for the Biodiversity Finance Working Group.
    • Assist the Task Manager in drafting targeted presentations, briefing notes and speaking points based on the Working Group’s findings.
    • Provide support for the coordination, administrative and communications support for the operations of the working group for example scheduling meetings, sharing documentation with members, maintaining the Working Group’s Intranet page, organizing and minuting meetings,
    • Assist to liaise with relevant in-house and external partners as necessary or requested by the team.
    • Attend the meetings, trainings and conferences of relevance to UNEP in Geneva.

    Intern – Artificial Intelligence

    Under the direct supervision of the GEF Biodiversity Task Manager, the intern will assist the UNEP/GEF Biodiversity-Land degradation Unit in developing artificial intelligence based project and portfolio's monitoring tools and products to assist results oriented project delivery. More specifically, the internship will have the following tasks:

    •  Assist in conducting research on emerging AI trends, tools, and best practices relevant to UNEP’s Project cycle management work.
    • Support in preparation of internal papers, reports and/or presentations on these topics. Share findings with the rest of the unit. 3) Assist to explore and test emerging AI tools and approaches through quick, low-effort prototypes specifically contribute to the development and deployment of Microsoft Copilot Studio agents and related automation tools.
    • Support in contribution of the development and refinement of a Prompt Catalogue to support effective use of generative AI.
    • Assist in collaboration with other UNEP internal teams to identify practical use cases for AI tools and assess their feasibility through rapid testing.
    • Support the organization and coordination of regular meetings, workshops, and webinars in designing the Unit’s AI based project monitoring systems.
    • Assist by using AI produce short summaries / videos of how AI based monitoring tools can be used to aid unit staff in their work.
    • Attend the meetings, trainings and conferences of relevance to UNEP in Geneva,
