    Kuza Jamii County Lead - Marsabit

    Program Implementation

    • Provide overall managerial leadership for the project at the county level, ensuring teams follow work plans so activities are on time, target and within the approved budget, and project deliverables achieve desired impact
    • Collaborate with project partners in implementing the Kuza Jamii Kenya Customer journey.
    • Establish strong working relationships with the field staff to maintain high levels of motivation and facilitate the completion of program tasks in a timely manner
    • Provide timely updates to supervisor on progress and issues, identifying risks and proposing solutions for action and early resolution
    • Attend all project meetings as well as facilitate planning meetings and workshops with government, NGOs, private sector and community partners to revise plans and promote partner acceptance/buy-in
    • Regularly visit field sites to assess progress of activities and provide formal and informal feedback
    • Document challenges and success of each program activity (targeting, training, Business Savings Groups (BSG) business grant disbursements, business and BSG mentoring,).
    • Provide support to Program Manager in running refresher workshops at beginning of every cycle.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Serve as a liaison with and build effective working relationships with Project Partners, Marsabit County Government, local partners, communities and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop partnerships in the humanitarian community at local level and coordinate with authorities at County Government levels.
    • Promote sustainability of project activities with effective networking, linkages to other programmers, capacity building of key project staff, and strengthening community-based organizations and mechanisms

    Gender Inclusion

    • Ensure that gender issues are integrated and mainstreamed across the program, including project design, implementation and monitoring, and operations, as well as in staff training materials, policies and procedures.
    • Conduct gender analyses and research on youth’s norms and constraints in project locations.
    • Support development of gender monitoring and evaluation indicators for the project.
    • Contribute in the development of appropriate gender resources and tools for project staff. For the business owners/groups and the private sector and help the BOs exploit such.
    • Support linkage relevant technologies/extension services that improve productivity and value addition

    Best Practices

    • Document challenges, key learnings and best practices generated from the project
    • Take lead in sharing and promoting best practices across the field team
    • Work closely with the Northern Kenya counterparts in disseminating these best practices across both countries

    Requirements

    Education and Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Agriculture, Small Enterprise Management or any other relevant education background.
    • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in multi-sectoral programs, planning and implementing programs
    • Knowledge of Tan River County, especially political economy, agricultural and environmental sectors
    • Knowledge of current approaches to gender equality, disability inclusion and broader inclusion programming in complex transformational development environments

    Senior Enumerator - Dertu, Abakaile, Sankuri and Dadaab Wards (Part Time)

    Key Result Areas

    Database Assistant

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support onboarding of new projects into the system by providing necessary user logins and supporting basic setup.
    • Support system prep for new data entry cycles, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
    • Consult with field data collection and project teams on configuring the Salesforce and TaroWorks interface to their preferences.
    • With supervision from the direct supervisor, support in design, development and deployment of TaroWorks forms and ensure correct mapping to Salesforce.
    • Support in Salesforce schema updates such as field creation and/or updates with supervision.
    • Support system/helpdesk, track and respond to user requests in a timely and effective manner.
    • Perform regular file archiving and purges as necessary.
    • Create and change user accounts as requested.
    • Develop and maintain reports on Salesforce as requested.
    • Manually upload data as necessary to support project teams with the creation of large numbers of records and any mass modification of existing records.
    • Perform weekly data cleaning, interpret reports and send logs to relevant project teams.
    • Support teams to drive data quality by proactively identifying areas with data quality issues and recommending potential solutions.
    • Creatively and proactively respond to user bottlenecks, developing ad hoc tools as needed.
    • Participate in technology planning in collaboration with other members of the Technology Solutions team.
    • Manage the sandboxes and users that have access to the sandbox environments.
    • Manage Salesforce Storage limits and data backups

    Responsibilities

    • All systems and database process manuals should be well documented and up to date including, but not limited to, database structure, data dictionaries, integrations and procedures
    • Systems and database cleanup done on regular basis as per best practice and compliance procedures
    • Adequate support to users regarding DB access, data entry, troubleshooting and overall best practices
    • Manage user access and controls to ensure data security and integrity
    • Quality checks to ensure data is entered correctly and completely and run data maintenance reports

    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Salesforce terminology and administration.
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn TaroWorks.
    • Ability to proactively identify and address complex problems in a way that responds to end user needs.

    Business Mentor _ Mt Elgon region

    Job Description:

    Micro Enterprise Development:

    • Develop micro-enterprises according to the Village funding cycle, start micro-enterprises in your region.
    • Fill out proper Village forms for each micro enterprise as specified in the Business Mentor manual.
    • Mobilize qualified groups to participate in Village Enterprise program
    • Responsible for quality Village Enterprise Program implementation in entire sub-county

    Training and disbursement:

    • Properly train all new Village Enterprise business owners according to training process detailed in the Business Mentor Manual
    • After pre-funding training sessions are complete, work with Village Enterprise staff to carry out grant disbursement for all business groups
    • Conduct supplemental training sessions and evaluate micro-enterprise performance after grant disbursements

    Mentoring:

    • Provide mentoring on choosing and running a business using methods outlined in Mentoring Manual. Mentoring will require at least one visit to each business per month
    • Provide advice and support in designing business-mentoring methodologies that are the most appropriate for the type pf enterprises supported.
    • Prepare a monthly report detailing progress of business groups including successes and challenges, general observations and changes to business groups (industry, composition)
    • Help Business owners in producing credible business and marketing plan including how to balance positive cash flow and maintain accounts.
    • Connect enterprises up and down the value chain by identifying relevant stakeholders, suppliers etc. and creating sustainable commercial relationships between the parties.

    Business Savings Groups (BSGs):

    • Organize Business Savings Groups for each set of 10 businesses funded during a cycle
    • Train business groups on BSG formation for self-directed savings and loans
    • Attend Monthly Savings Group Meetings for the first nine months providing assistance as needed.
    • Provide information and material, which may be of use to the business owners for marketing, value addition, business development, motivation and value chain maintenance.

    Regional Exposure and Analysis:

    • Assist Field Associate, Assistant Country Director, and Regional Manager to introduce Village’s program to local government agencies
    • Work with Regional Manager or Assistant Country Director to help identify most viable businesses in your region
    • Consult with other Business Mentors to determine best practices and share information
    • Attend Business Mentor Training and participate in regional Business Mentor meetings, usually bi-weekly
    • Organize business visits as requested by Country Office.
    • Teach and show business owners how to conduct engaging presentations to visitors.
    • Organize and facilitate peer to peer and lesson learning exchange events between the different enterprises supported in the program.

    Reporting:

    • Submit a Monthly report according to the Village Enterprise form in the BM training manual
    • Submit Business Profiles once a quarter
