    Employee Relations Manager

    Reporting to the Regional Human Resource Director (East Africa Cluster), the Employee Relations Manager shall provide coordination of Employee Relations matters to the business at all levels. The manager will also facilitate negotiations and consultations with formal union, labour office and Employee Associations on behalf of G4S Kenya with a view to achieving positive outcomes and broad agreement to proposals which meet the business objectives. 

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor Compliance of the Disciplinary Policy across the business by all the Line Managers
    • Continuously update the Disciplinary Policy to ensure it meets all the Legislative changes relating to Employment Law as is amended from time to time by the government
    • Effectively communicate/train new line managers on the disciplinary policy as and when required
    • Monitor threats to industrial peace for appropriate management intervention
    • Maintain an environment sound for smooth business operations by proactively seeking feedback through engagement meetings
    • Investigate all the speak out issues as and when they are reported and give feedback to the management and the employees
    • Continuously cascade information on the use of the forum to all the employees and their representatives
    • Coordinate all litigations arising out of employer/employee relationship with ARO
    • Provide necessary back up information to aid in court proceedings
    • Provide evidence in court as and when required
    • Coordinate internal witnesses to ensure they attend court proceedings when required
    • Proactively manage all employees disputes with the union and the Labour Ministry
    • Ensure quick resolution of employee disputes with the union & Labour Ministry by providing back up information to support company’s position
    • A robust plan to ensure meetings with frontline employees is continuously in place throughout the year
    • Ensure separation letters for all employees leaving the business involuntarily meet the threshold as required under the Employment Act 2007

    Ideal candidate:

    Knowledge and Qualifications

    • A Bachelors degree in Business Management or Human Resources Management (Human Resources related subjects compulsory )
    • Understanding of the Kenya market and legislation

     

    Experience

    • 5 - 8 years in Human Resources Management in a large business dealing with unionized employees
    • Exposure to Management of Employee Relations in a busy work environment

    Learning and Development Manager

    Reporting to the Regional Human Resource Director (East Africa Cluster), the Learning & Development Manager shall develop and implement all training and development solutions and interventions in order to meet the strategic, operational and talent needs of the business throughout the learning and development life cycle and in accordance with legislative requirements and the G4S group minimum standards. 

    Responsibilities

    Develop, maintain and continuously improve a framework for learning and development which includes formal learning programmes, self-development, initiatives and coaching/mentoring programmes for Management/Leadership which are aligned with the organizational objectives and minimum standards

    • Define and map the knowledge, skills and competencies required for each level and position within the structure in accordance with group minimum standards and Africa regional strategy
    • Define, develop and continuously improve the strategic learning and development interventions that support the Talent and Resourcing needs of the business
    • Develop appropriate coaching a mentorship programmes
    • Ensure that learning and development activity is benchmarked against best practices in industry and across the G4S group
    • Strategy complies to SETA /Skills Development legislation, PSIRA regulations and supports BBBEE scorecard
    • Assessment and moderation frameworks linked to learning
    • Management and sourcing of training material and courses via external providers and internal
    • Monitor implementation and use feedback to update content and framework
    • Quality assurance of learning material content

    Facilitate the effective implementation of learning and development interventions 

    • Analyse the content of personal development plans in line with competence profile with the HR and execute all learning mandatory interventions required once KPI’s are agreed and finalised
    • In conjunction with the Regional Directors, HRM’s and Talent & Resourcing Manager, plan and execute learning and development interventions of employees who are identified within the various categories of the G4S nine box talent matrix, including: that the effectiveness of the training is measured and evaluated in accordance with the organizational objectives set and Bi-annual Reports reflecting progress during a 12 month period and transfer of skills into the workplace
    • Equality/diversity profile evaluated of those receiving training and development via WSP Reports
    • Source and procure (in line with procurement process) appropriate providers or identify internal facilitators
    • Schedule dates and ensure course/intervention details captured on the learner management systems
    • Consolidate and reconcile provider invoices when relevant (according to process)
    • Review performance of providers in feedback from delegates after training courses and feedback from business on effectiveness of training
    • Results of internal training measured through certification of learners vs learners enrolled 
    • Provide consultation/advice to business in respect of learning and development needs (in line with Performance Management process, competency framework and company strategy
    • Source relevant solutions or recommendations for needs identified in process and support manager on the development process.

    Manage the statutory compliance, BBBEE strategy requirements, training administration and budget/expenses

    • Ensure the ongoing management of relationships with the various statutory bodies, including PSIRA and SASSETA
    • Ensure the timely creation and submission of WSP and ATR
    • Ensure ongoing statutory compliance with relevant legislation
    • Provide strategic advice to the Executive on the development of legislation and strategic issues affecting the security industry
    • Act as subject matter expert and custodian of skills development in the BBBEE scorecard
    • Check, analyse and explain major variances to budget on a monthly basis
    • Ensure that expense mandates follow audit procedures
    • Prepare annual input on estimated management development for business units
    • Organize and control processes surrounding the study procedures

    Ideal candidate:

    Knowledge and Qualifications

    • Relevant Human Resources/ Training degree
    • Accredited facilitator, assessor and moderator
    • Knowledge of curriculum and learning programme design
    • Knowledge of the PSIRA training regulations and requirements
    • Knowledge of Skills Development, EE, LRA and SAQA legislation
    • Knowledge of training facilitation, evaluation and moderation
    • Ability to manage delivery of training through a regional footprint

    Experience

    • 5 to 8 year experience relevant experience in a senior learning and development role
