Job Purpose

To provide both strategic and operational leadership, direction, and oversight of the Human Resource function. The role is responsible for developing and implementing human capital strategies, policies, and systems that ensure the institution attracts, develops, motivates, and retains a competent, high-performing, and ethical workforce aligned to institutional objectives and national labour laws.

REQUIREMENTS
Academic Qualification

The candidate MUST possess a Master's degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Professional qualifications.

• Professional certification in Human Resource Management (CHRP-K).
• Membership to a recognized Human Resource professional body (e.g., IHRM or equivalent).

Experience

Interested applicants must: have nineteen of continuous relevant work experience, three (3) of which should be at the level of a Senior Human Resource Officer Il or comparable grade with proven integrity, honesty, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.

In addition, the candidate should have experience in the following;

• Assist in providing support and guidance to HR staff
• Coordination of development of policies and other documents
• Manage employees relations and performance management
• Management of pension and benefits administration
• Management of staff welfare matters
• Managing staff recruitment and promotion process
•  Organizing staff training and development
• Overall leadership and management of the Human Resource Function
• Performance Management, design and implementation of employees retention strategies
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
• Prepare budgets, procurement plans and workplans
• Provision of secretariat services as outlined in the University Statutes.
• Have High ethical standards, integrity, accountability, teamwork, and professionalism, withcompliance to the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION OF SENIOR LECTURER IN PLANT PATHOLOGY GRADE 13

• This is a senior position in the University teaching or research career. The appointee shall be expected to provide academic/research leadership to members in lower academic/research grades. Appointment is either on Permanent and Pensionable terms or on a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract, depending on age, citizenship, or any other reason.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• An earned PHD in Applied Biology (Nematology), Masters in Nematology and Bsc in Horticulture from accredited and recognized University

Experience

Applicants Must:

• Have a minimum of three (3) years work experience as Lecturer at University.
• Have supervised since appointment as Lecturer, at least three (3) post-graduate students to completion.
• Have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops
• Have evidence of continued research and/or effective teaching
• Applicants should have evidence of contribution to university/research institution through activities such as participation in departmental management, students' academic/research advising, school or university/institutional meetings, committee membership and related matters
• Be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable)
