    Multimedia Graphic Designer

    Key Result Areas

    • The Designer will be responsible for the production of high quality graphic design material for promotions and branding, both on and off air.
    • They must have the ability to effectively communicate design ideas through storyboards, style frames and mock-ups.
    • They will be required to work on all aspects required for a design project, including logo design, production of 2d and 3d motion graphics, post production work, and assets for print and web.
    • They must be able to see a project through from start to finish and ensure all assets required are delivered on-time and to requirements
    • They must display an understanding of the market and the NBD Products strategy and share a continued involvement in developing these brands
    • They must continue to learn new software and develop design skills required for the job, and be prepared to undertake training where necessary
    • They must be prepared to work out of hours where reasonably required, in line with the responsibility of the job.

    Strategic Planning & Decision Making

    • The designer will be highly competent in interpreting a design brief, and work closely with the Producers and Team lead graphics Designer to understand and define the brief requirements. They will provide expertise, creative input and effective design solutions within an agreed time-scale and budget.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • A creative thinker, with an excellent and proven ability to visually and verbally communicate ideas.
    • Ability to define, characterize, and communicate solution design at a creative level
    • Excellent Design & animation skills, proficient in mainstream graphics software, including but not limited to: Vizrt/Any live playout software, Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D/3D Max/Maya, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Animate.
    • Highly motivated with a strong sense of belief in creative ideas.
    • Strongly committed to working as part of a creative team
    • Excellent visual design vocabulary and client facing skills
    • Excellent verbal, visual and presentation skills
    • The ability to produce and communicate a consistent stream of fresh ideas
    • Experience working within a wide variety of visual styles
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
    • Excellent creative design abilities.
    • Excellent understanding of motion design and animation, both 2D and 3D
    • Have a strong brand awareness, particularly within a television environment.
    • Have a thorough knowledge and passion for television.
    • Be forward thinking and enthusiastic in ideas and approach.
    • Good planning and organizational skills.
    • Able to prioritize tasks and projects.

    Education

    • Degree in graphic design, animation, fine arts or communication or equivalent certification or job experience desirable

    Professional Experience

    • Proven experience of creative contribution as part of a design team within the television or motion graphics industry
    • The role requires excellent design & animation skills and broad experience in all stages of the creative design and production process.
    • Experience with storyboarding, layout, typography, logo design and some experience and understanding of print, sound and video editing.

    Editor, Business & Technology

    Role overview:

    We seek to recruit an experienced and self-motivated individual for the role of Editor, Business & Technology. Reporting to the Managing Editor, Content Hubs, the job holder will be responsible for the generation of content for business and technology, analysis, editorials, and ensuring that the stories are edited to comply with journalistic ethics, editorial objectives and set deadlines.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Taking responsibility for the quality and quantity of the Business & Technology content across NMG Platforms;
    • Creating market-leading breaking and brand-defining business content;
    • Generating and pitching ideas that will enable the Business hub to meet its publishing targets and maximise audience impact;
    • Identifying gaps in coverage of business news to meet the needs of the audience;
    • Representing the NMG / brand angle in all business content created;
    • Assessing the climate and anticipating likely developments in business and technology for coverage;
    • Be an expert in the business world and maintain a wide and varied contacts book;
    • Representing the company as required, including (but not limited to) in media, in commercial conversations, in the market;
    • Commissioning valuable long-term business content that can be monetised;
    • Collaborating with the Editor, Social, Search & Analytics to package content in ways that optimise reach;
    • Evaluating news for authenticity and checking sources;
    • Checking for legal and ethical issues in journalists' copy;
    • Managing direct reports and providing mentorship, coaching, and support;
    • Monitoring and maintaining appropriate productivity levels for your core team and book of correspondents and contributors;
    • Reviewing the submitted stories to ensure that they meet editorial objectives, house style and journalistic ethics;
    • Writing editorials on business & technology.
    • University degree in Journalism or any other related field from an accredited Institution;
    • Diploma in journalism;
    • Minimum Six (6) years of relevant experience with three (3) of those years at supervisory level;
    • Business subject expert with great contacts;
    • Extensive track record of delivering high-quality journalism across platforms;
    • Understanding of multimedia content production on all platforms;
    • Knowledge of how to build engagement with a digital audience;
    • Strong understanding of data analytics, social media and SEO;
    • Full knowledge of media law;
    • Motivational leader and coach;
    • Encourage an open and creative environment where ideas are welcomed;
    • Ability to work quickly to meet deadlines, but also to think creatively about original new ways to tell stories.
