    Infrastructure Advisory-East Africa Project Manager

    Role and Responsibilities:

    This individual will assist the leadership team in day-to-day engagement management on specific projects and will:

    • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to senior associate and associate team members
    • Develop and present client materials including status reports, project reports and presentations
    • Monitor budgets, schedules, work quality, scope and client deliverables
    • Contribute to hands-on delivery of projects and programmes which may include programme design and development; benefits and quality management; stakeholder management; portfolio management; programme and project planning including milestone management; and risk and issue management.
    • Integral to delivering these responsibilities will be PMO Management, financial management; maintaining risks, issues, assumptions, actions logs; resource forecasting; dependency management; and programme reporting.
    • Work individually and with different teams of the firm to improve our profile in the Infrastructure sector market (through involvement in industry groups, thought leadership, speaking engagements)
    • Establish and develop network of stakeholders in the Infrastructure sector (authorities, regulators, financial institutions, investment funds, developers, contractors, technical advisers and legal advisers etc)
    • Lead and support in business development activities
    • Provide project strategy and development analysis in some or all of the required areas.

    Skills, Professional qualifications and Experience:

    The ideal candidate has:

    • Bachelor's degree (combined with a Masters, preferred but not required)
    • Professional registration and/or project management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 or other similar certification will be an added advantage
    • Project feasibility, options appraisal and/or project structuring experience
    • Project procurement experience through to financial close
    • 7-10 years of experience in construction, real estate, infrastructure project management, infrastructure consulting
    • Understanding the lifecycle activities of construction and infrastructure projects
    • Experience with alternative contract types: EPC, PPP, etc
    • Experience building project financial models
    • Experience drafting business plans and feasibility studies
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Excellent writing and analytical skills
    • Proven capabilities of managing and working with a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Demonstrated initiative and ability to communicate and effectively engage with a diverse group of clients
    • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
    • Proven track record of “juggling” multiple and competing priorities

    Infrastructure Advisory-East Africa Operations Manager

    Role and Responsibilities:

    This individual will assist the leadership team in day-to-day engagement management on specific projects and will:

    • Update business development pipeline and co-ordinating proposals development for the managers;
    • Quality and Risk Management (QRM) administration throughout the engagement lifecycle, from opening the engagement risk file through to closing;
    • Liaise and follow up with the finance team for reporting and subcontractors’ payments;
    • Collaborate with People, Performance and Change (PPC) and Human Resources (HR) teams for on boarding of new joiners as well as Learning and Development (L&D) coordination for managers;
    • Coordinate team meetings and taking minutes and action points;
    • Coordinate all reporting for the Infrastructure Advisory Team;
    • Primary contact for Central Services Unit (CSU) on all internal matters for the Infrastructure Advisory team;
    • Provide support to the management team in ensuring that all the internal and external stakeholders are aligned on and understand the set objectives and expectations;
    • Establish and grow relationships with relevant partners;
    • Identify and accurately report to the managers on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the Infrastructure Advisory business function on a timely basis;
    • Provide support in the development of systems, processes and policies to guide operations, activities and ensure full compliance;
    • Actively participate in all business continuity activities including capacity planning, backups, recovery and succession management;
    • Participate in audit activities and ensure identified action areas are addressed and deliverables fully implemented within the defined timelines and standards;
    • Contribute to the development of a continuous performance improvement culture within the team by liaising with management and the wider infrastructure team to identify and drive key activities such as automation, process efficiencies, risk and control initiatives.

    Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

    The ideal candidate has:

    • Bachelor's degree business, management, or related field (combined with a Masters preferred but not required);
    • 5-7 years of experience in Operations Management or similar role;
    • Strong understanding and experience of BIG 4 engagement management practices
    • Be a team player and with strong interpersonal skills
    • Proven ability to multi-task and ensure effective delivery of competing priorities to meet targets and objectives
    • Highly organised and pays attention to details
    • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
    • Comfortable with performing operational tasks
    • Basic understanding the lifecycle activities of construction and infrastructure projects
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Excellent writing and analytical skills

    Deal Advisory-Senior Manager, Strategy Services

    Responsibilities

    • Team lead on consulting projects including supporting clients to design, develop and deliver innovative and pragmatic strategy solutions to address business challenges and foster growth.
    • Manage multiple day to day roles that include project delivery, client relationship management, team building, and business development.
    • Support and guide the planning, budgeting, quality management and resource management of consulting (client) and internal (within KPMG) projects.
    • Stay abreast on current business and economic developments relevant to the client’s business; and use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided.
    • Continuously review project’s performance against preset objectives and milestones to ensure quality control throughout its life cycle while identifying and addressing key challenges/lessons learnt.
    • Ensure effective operation of projects by managing and facilitating flow of essential information and feedback among project stakeholders; regularly and effectively communicate project expectations and updates.
    • Provide technical guidance on client assignments including preparation of reports and ensure projects are delivered according to client specification and within set timelines.
    • Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility with the engagement team members.
    • Facilitate project contracting with associates and coordinate tasks undertaken by sub-consultants.
    • Ensure quality and internal risk management guidelines are observed during setup, execution, and closeout of projects.
    • Work with colleagues in East Africa on client work and internal initiatives as well as with international teams where appropriate.

    Desired competencies

    • Demonstrate project management, business, and commercial acumen, drive for execution, people management and development skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to prioritise workload whilst being resilient and being able to cope well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), particularly ability to articulate concepts and recommendations in written form - reports, analytical analysis etc.
    • Ability and willingness to travel within the East Africa where the project dictates.
    • Strong ability to manage large project consulting teams.
    • Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of practical solutions to complex strategic challenges.
    • Demonstrated track record in relationship management and business development.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from any reputable University and preferably in a business-related field.
    • Master’s degree or professional in business or strategic management would be an added advantage.
    • CPA, ACCA or CFA or any other relevant professional qualification.
    • At least 9 years work experience within a busy environment in a reputable organization.
    • Demonstrated experience in strategy development either as a consultant or internal strategy team.
    • An in-depth understanding of management functions (i.e., people, systems, and operations etc.)
