    Internal Communications Associate

    Position summary:

    As part of the Marketing and Communications team, the Internal Communications Associate liaises with colleagues across the organization to provide internal communication support and advice, communicate news via a range of internal channels, and support the planning and implementation of internal events and activities.

    The Internal Communications Associate supports in the delivery of the full internal communications program, varying from writing and editing internal newsletters, managing internal blogs, coordinating with the leadership team around all-staff emails and webinars, to building relationships with colleagues whilst guiding them in the setup of their own internal communication activities including blogs, webinars, and trainings.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Supporting internal campaigns, working on internal events, and identifying opportunities for innovative, engaging communications is part of the core responsibilities. The Internal Communications Associate ensures that all content is accurate, relevant, timely, and in line with our values, tone of voice, and organizational strategy.
    • As an experienced writer who enjoys working on digital and offline channels, the Internal Communications Associate has a sound understanding of communication best practices and techniques together with insight into how internal communications activities need to integrate with corporate communications.
    • Contribute to and implement the internal communications strategy;
    • Provide guidance to all colleagues on the manner in which messages and key themes are internally communicated to ensure consistency, clarity, and impact;
    • Develop and implement creative internal communication campaigns and internal events which support key business/strategic objectives and an inclusive and positive culture;
    • Support in maintenance of Confluence, the Rainforest Alliance’s intranet platform;
    • Engage with key internal communications partners including HR for our core values and organizational culture and coordinate with IT to ensure a smooth digital workplace;
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication processes/tools and deliver ongoing improvement;
    • Build relationships with colleagues whilst guiding them in the setup of their own internal communication activities; and
    • Tailor organizational materials and key messages with key staff members so that they can be used by relevant staff during external events.

    Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor in Communications or related field, or combination of education and experience;
    • 1 – 3 years of working experience in relevant field;
    • Proven ability in development and delivery of effective communications strategies and plans;
    • Proven knowledge of the communications landscape, and the role of digital communications in internal communications;
    • Experience in events planning and coordination;
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English. Other languages are a plus;
    • Strong planning and organizational skills;
    • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deadlines;
    • Strong relationship management skills, proven ability to build relationships with staff across an international organization;
    • Understand and be an advocate for the principles of staff engagement;
    • Affinity with sustainability;
    • Dependability, diplomacy, and ability to work independently;
    • Self-motivated, ability to juggle responsibilities, enthusiasm for our work;
    • Understanding of working in an international organization, including cultural sensitivities;
    • Good team player.

    Senior Associate, Business Intelligence

    Position summary:

    At the Rainforest Alliance we are looking for a collaborative and results oriented Senior Associate, Business Intelligence to join the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (DMERL) team. This position is responsible for working across different functions to align RA and stakeholder use cases with the design and delivery of business intelligence tasks and products through high-quality analysis, visualization and customized storytelling and reporting, with emphasis on the transformation of monitoring data collected through RA’s certification program and Landscapes and Communities (L&C) portfolio. The position will also work closely with RA’s Data Excellence team to identify the right tooling, systems and IT support to create impactful business intelligence products.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support DMERL’s Senior Manager for Business Intelligence to design RA’s Business Intelligence vision and ensure RA’s business intelligence needs and priorities are adequately reflected and planned for through organizational strategic and annual planning; 
    • Coordinate closely with RA’s Regions, Markets Transformation, Markets Excellence and Advocacy & Themes to customize business intelligence products that are aligned with the sector, geographic and thematic stakeholder use cases;
    • Coordinate closely with relevant departments to build business intelligence reports on project and certification insights to support value propositions, proposals and communication/marketing products; 
    • Coordinate closely with DMERL’s strategic planning and evaluation and learning teams to customize and create business intelligence products that support RA’s evaluation and learning agenda and strategic prioritization and planning processes;
    • Support RA internal tasks by designing business intelligence platforms and dashboards that link origin and supply chain insights to the management and reporting needs of key partners;
    • Coordinate closely with RA’s Data Excellence team to align stakeholder business intelligence outputs with RA’s data management, governance and security policies and procedures, and support ingesting of relevant data into the DAP and in explaining the business context to build the right data model;
    • Identify external data sources to contextualize RA data and create deeper business intelligence insights, and work with Data Excellence to integrate new data sources into RA’s underlying data architecture; and
    • Other duties, as assigned. 

     Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in data science, earth science, international development, supply chain management or related field; or equivalent professional qualification or work experience;
    • At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in economic development, sustainability, or agricultural supply chain management with a focus on business intelligence and reporting preferable;
    • Knowledge of agricultural supply chains, information management, business intelligence, data analysis and visualization;
    • Working knowledge of sustainability issues in the coffee, tea, palm oil and/or cocoa sector, as well as Certification Standards;
    • Ability to work independently, find innovative solutions to problems or challenges, and creatively tell compelling stories using data.  
    • Advanced skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, knowledge of statistics combined with basic GIS and proficiency using data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI; Report automation (using Macros Excel VBA, R, or Python) is a plus.
    • Having experience working with data quality monitoring, data consolidation, and both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
    • Knowledge of, and commitment to environmental issues and sustainability practices; and
    • Fluent in English is necessary.
