    Proposal Writing for Fund Mobilization Girls Education and Economic Empowerment

    Task Description:

    Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Education Sector, the following tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the Education Project officer for Education, Health and Well-Being:

    • We are looking for Online Volunteers who have experience in research and proposal writing in the field of education in Eastern Africa. The task will include the following responsibilities:
      • To collaborate with the education teams in each targeted country to develop and implement effective educational programs.
      • To collect and analyze data regarding in-school and out-of-school children, with a focus on girls.
      • To conduct detailed research on the state of girls' education in the specified countries, identifying unique challenges and opportunities.
      • The average estimated workload is expected to include roughly reviewing 5-7 documents (these can include scientific articles, studies etc.) over the course of the assignment duration.

    Requirements
    Required Experience:

    • Candidates should have strong research and analytical skills. Background knowledge and working experience in Education is desirable. A degree in a related field is considered an asset.
    • The candidate should have professional knowledge in English to summarize the findings.
    • We are searching for people with a high feeling of responsibility and knowledge of scientific and academic work, to ensure the quality of the research and proposal.

    Support Research for Higher Education/ Campus Africa

    Task Type:

    Task Description:

    Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Education Sector, the following tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the Education Programme Specialist for Higher Education:

    • Study the UNESCO global Operational Strategy for Priority Africa 2022-2029 Programme 1: Campus Africa – Reinforcing Higher Education in Africa and related publications for clear understanding.
    • Follow up with participating universities on their respective assignments in the implementation of ongoing and planned studies and research of the Education Unit by providing feedback and comments received from stakeholders from eastern Africa.
    • Collate comments and reviews received and consolidate for action by the Programme Specialist.
    • Support the process of stakeholder engagement from universities, UNESCO Chairs, UNITIN, Nobel prize winners, and researchers in Higher Education among others to improve understanding of the aim and expected outcome on Campus Africa.
    • Provide and review inputs for communication and visibility materials such as fliers, kakemonos, policy briefs etc. as required by different stakeholders on Campus Africa.
    • Support the organization of online and in-person workshops on Campus Africa targeting stakeholders of higher education in Eastern Africa in particular, and Africa in general, inviting key governments, educational institutions, development partners, quality assurance council/agencies, NGOs, funding agencies, and institutions, including UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs working in Higher Education.
    • Support the creation and management of platforms and consortiums for engaging stakeholders in discussions and key actions required.
    • Contribute to the Education Unit resource mobilization strategy for Campus Africa implementation by proposing funding models, sustainability plans, and partnerships and networks among universities and entities to establish synergistic collaborations.

    Requirements
    Required Experience:

    • Education: Advanced university degree in education, Higher Education, or any related fields.
    • Language: Excellent written and spoken English. Good knowledge of French is an asset.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, research, and advisory capacity in the field of Higher Education, and university processes.
    • Good skills in research and report writing.
    • Previous work experience in a UN organization and knowledge of Eastern African countries is highly desirable.

    Graphic Design Support for Visualizing Achievements

    Task Description:

    Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Education Sector, the following tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the Education Project officer for Education, Health and Well-Being.

    • We are looking for one (1) Online Volunteer who under the guidance of the Project Officer for Education, Health and Well-Being and in close collaboration with the education team will produce design proposals for five (5) factsheets, covering the achievements of(organization). In particular, the/each Online Volunteer is asked to:
      • Leveraging graphic design to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of UNESCO’s educational initiatives.
      • Collect information on document/material background such as target audience, design style, branding guidelines.
      • Creating Visual Content: Developing engaging and informative visual materials that reflect the aims and achievements of the O3 Programme.
      • Enhancing Educational Resources: Designing educational tools and resources that promote the program's key messages on gender equality, health, and human rights.
      • Supporting Advocacy and Awareness: Producing visually impactful materials that aid in advocacy and increase awareness about the importance of inclusive and equitable education.
      • Resource Mobilization: Crafting compelling presentations and pitches that facilitate resource mobilization efforts, ensuring sustained support for educational programs.
      • Create a small video for the UNESCO education team to showcase compelling stories and the work of the UNESCO Regional Office.

    Requirements
    Required Experience:

    • Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing document layouts, and must have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
    • A degree in graphic design or related field is considered an asset.
