    Wine Making Assistant

    Introduction

    The job holder tends to the day-to-day Wine Making and Blending processes. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure Wine Making process is as efficient and safe as possible.

    Job Functions Plant & Workshop

    Specification

    1. Area 1: Blending and Wine Making Processes
      1. Under moderate supervision, performs basic, routine wine making and blending tasks including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing Cellar fittings, hoses, fixed process lines, tanks, pumps, filters and water processing equipment.
      2. Bulk product movements including racking –set up and transfer of wine, spirit and juice to and from tanks, drums and tanker trucks
      3. Blending of bulk for packaging in line with instructions provided and Making corrections to blended bulk wine, spirit and juice as guided
      4. Operate pumps, plate and frame filters, centrifuge, and water processing equipment.
      5. Participate and deliver on the Winery E2 & MDWT requirements
      6. Measure and calculate routine workplace data.
      7. Keep confidentiality on product related formulations and information
      8. Responsible for compliance with the requirements of SOPs, policies and corporate operational efficiency/environmental measures cascaded to this position. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible results
      9. Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard product/ personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety
      10. Monitor Wine making Process, related equipment and report deviations as soon as they occur.
      11. Proper identification of product in tanks
      12. Filtration and subsequent blending of wine and RTD
      13. Retain necessary process documents for all tasks undertaken at different process steps

    Requirements

    • A Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry or Related field
    • At least one (1) years’ experience in a production setting in a similar organisation.
    • Working technical knowledge in a Wine Making set up is an added advantage.
    • Practical experience in use of MS packages.
    • Prior experience in Wine Making is an added advantage

    Machine Operator

    Introduction

    The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned machine runs optimally in terms of quality and quantity within a safe working environment.

    Specification

    1. Perform the adjustments and setting of the assigned machine to ensure quality output at their station and reduction of product wastage while upholding safety and product quality standards.
    2. Prepare all necessary tools, equipment and materials required for the assigned machine in compliance with the approved processes and procedures.
    3. Operate the assigned machine in accordance with the operating procedures to ensure proper operation of the machine and safe working environment.
    4. Inspect inputs and outputs for quality to identify causes of defects and rectify to ensure product quality and minimise wastage.
    5. Comply with all applicable quality, safety, health and environmental standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, IFS, HACCP, Organic, ISO 17025, SANS 1841) where applicable
    6. Carry out minor/routine maintenance of the respective machine, ensure that cleaning is done before and after every production run, and comply with plant/equipment scheduled maintenance.
    7. Liaise with maintenance for major breakdown and to ensure that the machines are serviced on time and routinely to reduce plant down time.
    8. Participate in the actual change over process to ensure the product quality is upheld in the next shift.
    9. Prepare and submit reports to the Line Controller of downtime and the product quality index at their station with the aim of driving enhanced performance.
    10. Inspect the quality of dry goods to ensure conformance to the established standards for a high quality product index.

    Requirements

    1. A Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical or Production Engineering
    2. At least two (2) years’ experience in a production setting in a similar organisation.

    Spirit Clerk

    Introduction

    The job holder is responsible for cross verification to ensure that ENA and any other bulk received meets the defined specification. This Position receives and issues ENA to points of use and is responsible for compiling all ENA Reconciliation and Compliance Reports.

    1. Manage Bulk ENA receipt/offloading/storage in reference to defined specifications and food safety requirements
    2. Monitor and manage stocking levels to mitigate against storage losses
    3. Establish optimized inventory targets, replenishment processes and materials flows to manufacturing site to achieve Production plans, efficiency and productivity goals
    4. Monitor and manage inventory levels daily (Stock at hand, WIP, finished goods plans) while communicating throughout the organization to ensure sufficient stock is available to manufacture scheduled product
    5. Analyze and track ENA consumption yields where utilized
    6. Physical/System receipt and issuance of ENA and generation of relevant documentation
    7. Categorize ENA received into batches to assure traceability
    8. Report to Procurement, user department and Quality on any deviations in quality/quantity of received ENA
    9. Manage the tracking and reduction of inventory waste associated with raw material transitions
    10. Carry out periodic stock take as defined
    11. Carry out aging analysis of Bulk in Stock and advise on any foreseeable risks(after doing physical verification )- other Winery Bulk
    12. Ensure SYTEM is updated (GRN & Goods issue)
    13. Ensure FIFO is practiced while issuing raw materials
    14. Ensure ENA storage capacity optimization

    Requirements

    1. Degree in Food Science and Technology
    2. Knowledge in Food safety requirements is necessary
    3. At least two (2) years’ experience in management of raw materials in FMCG
    4. FMCG - Experience in planning, inventory controls, replenishment and warehouse management
    5. Practical experience in use of MS packages and ERP systems.

    Machine Operator RO

    Introduction

    The Job Holder is responsible for effective operation of RO Water Plant to deliver the required Quantity and Quality of water for use in Blending and CIP processes. This position is also responsible for asset care and inventory control of RO Machine related inputs

    5. The Operator should be competent with experience of Ro Operations for a minimum of 2 years

    1. Develop, implement and monitor the departmental strategies including the annual budgets to ensure alignment of warehouse operations to the overall strategy.
    2. Develop, monitor and control the management of the departmental budget expenses to enhance cost containment/control.
    3. Drive the inventory planning and management for the Bonded Warehouses, Customs Declaration, Excise Stock Room, Co-packers Store, Dry Goods Material Stores and the current Depots.
    4. Track the planning to ensure availability raw materials, packaging material and finished goods in collaboration with the commercial team, production and procurement.
    5. Ensure sound and efficient stock management best practices and conduct reconciliations or investigations of any stock variances to ensure there are no losses resulting from stock differences.
    6. Develop and operationalize policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and rules governing Warehousing function/operations to drive the achievement of organisational objectives.
    7. Track export processing of orders or sale of products under customs control in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures and to comply with international law and other legislations/requirements.
    8. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements with relevant laws governing Customs & Excise operations (EACCM Act, 2004 , Cap 472 and subsidiary legislations) .
    9. Coordinate and ensure effective and efficient lead times management, stock inventory management and safe custody of goods.
    10. Establish systems to attract, develop, engage, and retain talented individuals and create an environment where they can realize their full potential and contribute to the attainment of departmental and organizational goals.
    11. Prepare and submit accurate and timely management reports for the supply chain division decision making.

    Requirements

    1. A Bachelors’ degree in a business related field.
    2. A professional qualification in stock management will be an added advantage.
    3. At least seven (7) years’ experience in warehousing management within a manufacturing set up with at least 2 years in a management position.
    4. Practical experience in use of MS packages and ERP systems.
