    Psycho Social Counselor

    To ensure efficient and effective psycho social and child protection interventions in the project and the welfare of all Participants (direct and indirect) are well observed. This should be done in line with Koinonia community policies on Participants protection and care within the delegated authority of a results-based management framework.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

    •  Formulate clients’ cases, maintain their records and ensure high levels of confidentiality on all the cases.
    • Offer professional psycho-social therapy to all the Children, youth and their families.
    • Gather suitable information about the target beneficiaries, their welfare, and share it with fellow staff members.
    • Use data gathered to develop effective interventions and promote best practices
    • Enhance the psychosocial support program to address staff and beneficiary needs
    • Prepare all counseling reports and present them to the immediate supervisor.
    • Ensure timely implementation of psycho-social activities to address staff needs
    • Prepare topics on different problematic areas and their accompanying psycho-social interventions for staff training.
    • Provide technical guidance on psycho-social interventions to fellow staff members and partners and set benchmarks that meet the Kenya government’s standards.
    • Provide technical guidance on child protection interventions to fellow staff members and families
    • To facilitate the review of the child protection policy and enhance the implementation of best practices
    • Conduct home and field-visits to assess family situations and to develop appropriate responses.
    • Develop and sustain effective working relations with partners and other participants including the government and NGOs to promote service delivery and information sharing.
    • Identify potential institutions that can handle referrals on psycho-social cases that are not compatible with the services of Koinonia Community.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

    Minimum Requirements and experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling psychology or related field with a strong bias in child protection and knowledge of working with street connected children.
    • Computer literacy a must: working knowledge of MS office required;
    • Experience in capacity building which includes facilitation of community-based training and awareness
    • Good knowledge of children rights and child protection experience
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
    • No less than 2 years previous work experience,

    Social Worker

    To ensure efficient and effective day to day running of social activities in the project and the welfare of all beneficiaries (direct and indirect) are well observed. This should be done in line with Koinonia community policies on beneficiary protection and care within the delegated authority of a results-based management framework.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

    • Deals with all matters relating to the day-to-day welfare of participants
    • Promote team work in the facilitation of participant’s activities with other members of staff and volunteers.
    • Facilitate quality participant sessions in line with their rehabilitation care plans. This involves facilitation of programs in psychosocial support, mentorship and education
    • Coordinate and plan with the other staff members on internal control systems, work schedules and follow ups such as community, home, hospital and school and visits
    • Prepare annual and monthly and weekly work plans as well as progress reports for the social department in conjunction with other departmental staff
    • Prepare accounting records, inventory, asset register, periodic financial reports and budget for all the participants and hand them to the team leader on time for monthly requisition and liquidations
    • Conduct needs assessments and case studies of participants in the project
    • Maintain and update participant’s personal files and database
    • Liaise with the project team leader on plans affecting participant’s placement, reintegration issues and family-based interventions.
    • Plan and conduct weekly, monthly meetings with the parents and the community
    • Ensure effective communication, mobilization and networking with other relevant organizations for referrals and support in the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of participants.
    • Enhance project efficiency and effectiveness through implementation of follow-up activities with various stakeholders, including monitoring of Koinonia inputs, local conditions and resources
    • Compile Participants related training and orientation materials to promote knowledge sharing with other members of staff, donors and all other stakeholders
    • Knowledge /experience in working with street connected families and children

    Management of the family Support programme

    • Assist in the development of strategies relating to the program
    • Follow ups and support the community volunteers in the project implementation
    • Hold monthly meetings with CVs to review progress of activities
    • Implement all activities within the family support program
    • Propose measures for program strengthening especially of the support groups
    • Hold regular reviews and assessment with all participant’s /target groups support groups community volunteers and contact persons and identify areas for improvement
    • Maintain a healthy relationship at all times between the staff, families and contact persons
    • Develop case plans with all care givers enrolled in the programme
    • Review the family case plans periodically.

    Data Management and Protections

    • Combine and rearrange data from source documents where required, enter data from source documents where required into computer database file and forms.
    • Transcribe information into required electronic format, scan documents into document management systems or databases and store completed documents into designated locations
    • Respond to requests for information and access relevant files while ensuring compliance with data integrity and security policies
    • Ensure that data on all program participants is accurate and up to date as per the set standards/ frequency updating and review (every 3-6 months)
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project team leader.

    Minimum Requirements and experience

    • Diploma in Social work or related field with basic accounting skills will be an added advantage.
    • Computer literacy a must: working knowledge of MS office required;
    • Experience in capacity building which includes facilitation of community-based training and awareness
    • Good knowledge of children rights and abuse prevention

    Project Team Lead for Young Mothers

    We are seeking a dynamic, empathetic, and innovative Project Team Leader to spearhead our Teen/Young Mothers Program. This initiative aims to provide young mothers with the resources, livelihood skills, and support they need to overcome challenges, thrive as individuals, and contribute positively to their families and communities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Program Leadership: Develop and implement strategies to achieve the program’s goals, including empowerment workshops, mentorship, and skills training for teen and young mothers.
    • Team Management: Supervise, motivate, and coordinate a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
    • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with community stakeholders, including local leaders, schools, and other providers.
    • Street Work & Family Engagement: Design and implement strategies to connect with street-involved individuals and families, ensuring the inclusion of their unique needs within the program.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track program outcomes, collect feedback, and prepare reports to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Resource Mobilization: Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with partners to secure necessary resources for program sustainability.
    • Advocacy: Promote awareness of issues affecting teen and young mothers and advocate for supportive policies and interventions.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Project Management, or a related field.
    • At least 3 years of experience in project management, especially with youth/women street-connected families and vulnerable populations.
    • Proven experience in street work and community engagement, with a focus on addressing challenges faced by street-involved families.
    • Strong leadership, mentorship, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
    • A passion for community service and commitment to empowering young mothers.
