    Senior Registrar (Paediatrics)

    M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit professional, and evidence driven person for a vacancy in the Senior Registrar – Paediatrics (2 Positions)

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Attending and managing acute paediatric cases and emergencies in the Outpatient center strictly following the set policies, procedures and protocols of the Hospital.
    2. Attending to Paediatric emergencies and acute illnesses in the emergency & outpatient department.
    3. Managing paediatric cases on the paediatric ward, newborn unit, NICU/ PICU with the consultant and paediatric intensivist/Neonatologist.
    4. Supervising junior doctor’s work, reviewing patients they see and giving advice regarding their management.
    5. Conducting Ward rounds with the Consultant on call
    6. Provide advanced resuscitation to paediatric cases when required.
    7. Providing Clinical education and communication to patients and caregivers.
    8. Keep updated patients records in regard to acute or chronic illnesses, surgical procedures and other significant clinical encounters such as allergic conditions.
    9. Ensure all necessary documentation as required is done in a timely manner and recorded as per the Hospital policies.
    10. Prepare medical reports as may be necessary or requested.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • A Master’s Degree in Paediatrics and Child Health from a recognized University.
    • A Certificate of Registration from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
    • A valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
    • Valid BLS & EPLS certification.
    • Up to date knowledge of paediatric drug prescription standards and online prescription systems.
    • Excellent communication and problem solving skills, patient and calm.

    Principal (School of Nursing)

    Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Principal will oversee the day to day nursing school operation and provide leadership, direction and coordination to the nursing school.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Implementation of academic programs – Work with senior lecturer to plan and implement academic programs such as orientation, courses, seminars, in services and other training program offered by the M.P. Shah nursing school.
    2. Strategic management – Participate in strategic planning by developing strategic initiatives, establishing collaborative work structures and climate, and developing procedures for monitoring results.
    3. Budgeting- Participate in the development of the Nursing School budget. Ensure appropriate utilization of the nursing school’s budget.
    4. Policy formulation and enforcement – Improve the service delivery of the nursing school by developing policies that enforce uniformity across teaching practice, support continuous learning and maintain a positive work environment.
    5. Promoting off extracurricular activities – Promote and support a high degree of student morale through curricular and extracurricular activities and services and co-ordinate the participation of all members of the teaching staff in the extracurricular program.
    6. Scheduling of lectures and events – Ensure the smooth running of classes and lessons by preparing timetable, class lists and schedules, and supervision schedules and be responsible for their functioning.
    7. Performance management – Conduct performance appraisal in order to evaluate staff performance.
    8. Compliance– Ensure that the Nursing school is compliant with the Kenyan statutory education legislation.
    9. Administration – Be responsible for administrative duties in areas such as admissions, assessment of student progress and achievement, student retention and attendance.
    10. Teaching and learning – Utilize at least 20% of worktime teaching, marking, and grading assignments.
    11. Discipline – Address student indiscipline cases and follow the nursing schools to rule book dispense
      punishments

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Master of Science in Nursing
    • At least 5 years’ experience working as nursing lecturer
    • PHD of Science in Nursing or related field will be an added advantage Experience in coaching and mentoring learners and lecturers
    • Ability to counsel and guide

    Librarian Assistant

    Reporting to the Head Nurse – Nursing School, the Librarian Assistant will assist medical practitioners locate evidenced based research on various conditions, diseases and treatment.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Maintain and update records – maintain a catalogs of books that indicates the within the library and those in circulation.
    2. Book arrangement – receive classify and arrange items in shelves according to content and purpose.
    3. Aid in Procurement – Facilitate the acquisition of books, pamphlets, periodicals, and audiovisual materials by checking prices, figuring costs and preparing appropriate order forms for review and sign off
    4. Training- Teach patrons on how to use reference sources, card catalogs, and automated information systems.
    5. Maintain order and silence – maintain a quiet and peaceful atmosphere that allows patrons to focus on their work by enforcing library policies.
    6. Aid patrons to locate books- Utilize library catalogues to find the catalogue number of the book. Utilize catalogue number to identify the shelf that the book is.
    7. Member registration – Register new members by create new account and inputting user identification and data into the system
    8. Loan books to members – confirm number of books in circulation before issuing out books.  Scan bar codes of the book and inform member of the return date.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Diploma in Library Science
    • Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in a library
    • Bachelor of science in Library or Information science will be added advantage Must be proficient in Microsoft suite

    Senior Lecturer

    Reporting to the Principal, the Senior Lecturer will provide training in both basic and post basic courses in class and in the Clinical areas. The job holder will also participate in the training of nurses already in service and mentorship of students and lecturers.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing, contribute to the development of learning and teaching strategies Participate in the development and review of curricula, policies, guidelines and protocols for nurse training at the national level, Nursing Council of Kenya or Ministry of Health.
    2. Develop links with external contacts such as other educational, employers and professional bodies to foster collaboration and participate in networking with industry and sourcing industrial attachments, departmental projects and function
    3. Collaborate and establish relationships with research and academic institutions and lecturers to build knowledge base and improve teaching methods
    4. Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
    5. Responsible for quality, audit and evaluation of outcomes of individual learning through formal assessments or informal methods and ensuring feedback is given
    6. Mobilise resources to ensure sustainability of courses in critical care nursing and contribute to the
      process of securing funds for research or scholarly projects
    7. Coaching and Developing Others: Working closely with HR and relevant stakeholders, establish systems to attract, develop, engage, manage performance, retain lecturers and create an environment where they can realize their full potential and contribute to the delivery of an exceptional and superior student experience in addition to other divisional and organizational goals.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing and post basic training in a speciality field
    2. At least 8 years work 3 of which should have been in teaching
    3. Experience in coaching and mentoring learners
    4. Knowledge in research methodologies

    Lecturer

    Reporting to the Principal, the Lecturer will develop a supportive learning environment for student to develop graduate level by participating in the development, teaching, facilitation and assessment of the undergraduate nursing programs at M.P. Shah Hospital.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Curriculum development – Devise and develop nursing curricula and course material as approved by course committees and/or the Dean of the Nursing School.
    2. Compliance– Ensure that the Nursing school is compliant with the Kenyan statutory education legislation.
    3. Research – Utilize the nursing school‘s resources to conduct and support applied nursing research.
    4. Contribute to the existing body of nursing knowledge by publishing medical journals and research papers. Participate in supervision and assisting of undergraduate and post graduate students in their research wo
