    Camp Mentor

    Overall Job Purpose

     

    The Camp mentor shall be responsible for leadership and mentoring of campers, providing a safe, enriching, joyful and Christ-centered experience for campers, consistent with Angaza Discovery Camp policies and procedures and the Biblical teachings. The position is directly responsible for the spiritual, social and physical needs of campers for the entire duration of each camp session, and follow-up after the camping sessions.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Fostering an attitude of acceptance, encouragement and inclusion through words and actions.
    • Evangelize, Follow-up and disciple the campers.
    • Lead creative Bible studies for the campers, and participate in all camp activities. Including life skills, creation care, experiential learning, etc…
    • Attend and participate with campers in all scheduled worships, devotions, campfires, meals, evening programs etc.
    • Listen actively when campers share with you and provide opportunities for campers to discover their own personal gifts.
    • Modeling and assisting campers in developing appropriate relationships with staff members and fellow campers.
    • Maintaining an overall awareness of cabin life so as to be ready to respond to any camper’s needs.
    • Review and pay attention to special camper needs and concerns.
    • Working with the nursing staff to see that campers receive all medications and/or treatments on schedule where necessary.
    • Ensure cleaning, maintenance and proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
    • Log events and maintain records relating to the camp activities.
    • Make sure you and campers understand and put into practice the camp rules and follow the emergency and incident procedures.
    • Be present and on time for all staff meetings and participate fully in the total service experience.
    • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements

    • Pursue your own spiritual growth by actively pursuing the spiritual disciplines of a Christian life.
    • A minimum of a KCSE certificate. Experience in student/youth mentorship an added advantage.
    • Must be an active member of a Bible believing church.
    • Ability, confidence, and knowledge to lead a small group of youth campers in daily Bible study.
    • Willingness and ability to perform a wide variety of functions and help wherever is needed.
    • Excellent communication (oral and written), reporting, organization, and leadership skills.
    • Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from multi-cultural backgrounds.
    • Keen on details and possess analytical and decision making skills.
    • Must have initiative, creativity and be able to work with minimal supervision

    I.T Officer

    Reports to: I.T. Coordinator
    Supervises: Interns
    Department: I.T.

    Overall job description

    The position oversees and coordinates I.T. user support for the organization staff as well as ensuring reliability of the
    various I.T. systems and services. In addition, the position assists I.T. management by working with various vendors
    in ensuring we have supply of equipment and services needed on time.

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. To oversee and to coordinate I.T. user support.
    2. Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, system, networks, printers and scanners.
    3. Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance on I.T. equipment.
    4. Train end users on how to handle and effectively use computers and other related accessories.
    5. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely and via phone.
    6. Ensure that I.T. assets are recorded in the inventory system.
    7. Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests.
    8. Setting up accounts for new users.
    9. Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary.
    10. Assessing and testing out new solutions to increase effectiveness of use of technology.
    11. Training and mentoring interns and newer staff in I.T.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications & Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
    2. A Diploma/Certificate in electronics/Networking/I.T. or related fields will be an added advantage.
    3. At least 2 years relevant work experience in a busy I.T. department
    4. Competencies/Abilities/Skills Required
    5. Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities
    6. Software and hardware skills are required
    7. Knowledge in networking, internet, license administration
    8. Determined personality with initiative, perseverance
    9. Excellent analytical, organizational and presentation skills

    Camp Nurse

    Overall Job Purpose

    The Camp Nurse is responsible for facilitating the safety and wellness of all campers and staff. The incumbent is expected to manage health and safety programs, in conjunction with camp leaders, and serve as a health educator to staff and campers. The Camp Nurse also provides health services to campers and staff, including: prescribing and administering medications, providing first aid, maintaining accurate records, and making appropriate referrals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under the supervision of the Manager of Health with help from camp leadership, the Camp Nurse will:

    • Provide education on health issues and disease prevention to campers, staff and the local community.
    • Monitor camp health, hygiene and safety by performing observational assessments and making regular rounds. Report facility and grounds health risks to management.
    • Administer first aid to injured campers or staff, guided by evidence-based practice and nursing judgment.
    • Manage the procurement, storage and use of medical drugs, supplies, and equipment within the discovery camp.
    • Maintain accurate health records that account assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and prescriptions.
    • Establish linkages with the existing county healthcare system.
    • Make appropriate referrals for injury or illness that require a higher level of health services. Accompany referral cases and follow up, as warranted.
    • Complete incident reports and perform follow up.
    • Submit accurate and timely reports to supervisor.
    • Participate in writing the annual work plan for the nursing unit in line with the strategic plan of the discovery camp.
    • Support in the budgeting and budget monitoring process for health programs and treatment activities within the camp.
    • Carry out guidance and counseling to the campers and staff, as deemed necessary.
    • Participate in camp activities and supervise campers.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.

    Requirements.

    • Diploma in Community Health Nursing from a Medical Training College.
    • Must have a practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Must have experience of at least 3 years in a busy work environment.
    • Certificate in Counseling or Psychology will be an added advantage
    • Must demonstrate patient management skills and experience in people management.
    • High level of motivation, integrity, commitment to Christian values and professionalism.
    • Must be willing to live within the camp premises.
