    UX Research Consultant

    Summary of Position

    Nithio is seeking a short-term consultant to lead a UX research initiative on our Risk Analytics Engine products and services. The consultant will report to the Chief Data Scientist as head of product. Outputs of this work will inform future product development projects and strategies to facilitate Nithio’s growth.

    The consultant will perform the following duties:

    • Research Planning and Recruitment

      • Work with Product and GTM leads to develop a well-crafted research plan with clear research objectives.
      • Write usability research screeners and discussion guides.
      • Manage outreach and recruitment (in collaboration with Product, Finance, and GTM teams) of targeted end-users for specific research studies.
      • Data Collection
        • Moderate one-on-one basic usability sessions.
        • Help develop and implement quantitative surveys.
        • Conduct qualitative stakeholder and client feedback interviews, through focus groups and one-on-one sessions.
      • Data Analysis
        • Extract insights about user behaviors from existing web instrumentation tools (HotJar, Mixpanel).
        • Translate user insights into actionable recommendations for the product team.
      • Presentation of Insights
        • Craft personas and journey maps to communicate insights across the design and development teams.
        • Present design research findings to the larger team in a clear and organized fashion

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2-5 years of experience in UX Research, ideally involving B2B solutions and international clients
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent English language proficiency
    • Professionalism in representing Nithio among existing/potential partners
    • Ability to get up to speed quickly and take initiative with minimal inputs
    • Ideally, exposure to finance and investment sectors, particularly energy or climate finance.

    Data Solutions Analyst

    Summary of Position

    This position is part of Nithio’s Risk Analytics team and is a crucial liaison with the Nithio finance team and investment-oriented clients. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and combine a strong quantitative background with domain knowledge in private or public finance.

    Preference will be given to applicants with energy or climate finance sector expertise and/or experience on the African continent.

    Preferred locations Nairobi, Kenya; Lagos, Nigeria; Kampala, Uganda; Washington, DC Metro Area, USA. Remote work flexible

    This position will perform a range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Lead successful engagements to provide risk analytics solutions for Nithio’s clients (e.g., investors, distributed energy companies, policymakers, and development agencies), from requirements gathering to delivery.
    • Onboard, query, and analyze diverse types of data—including household surveys, satellite imagery, consumer data, and transaction records.
    • Prepare analytical materials, including data visualizations, maps, reports, presentations, and briefings.
    • Communicate, document, and train users on Nithio’s product offerings and analytics results.
    • Support the Data Science and Engineering teams in the development of new products and capabilities such as KPIs/metrics, machine learning applications, dashboards tools, and code packages.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1-5 years of experience in applied quantitative analysis
    • Experience working on or adjacent to core finance workflows including corporate and SME due diligence, financial modeling, credit risk assessments, portfolio management, etc. 
    • Essential software skills: R (preferred) or Python for statistical analysis. Other software/programming skills (e.g. SQL) and exposure to machine learning packages and the software development cycle are a definite plus.

    Legal Counsel

    The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements in support of Nithio’s operations. 

    As a lean, entrepreneurial company, flexibility and willingness to pitch in wherever needed is critical; working with a talented team of finance and data professionals to provide practical and commercial legal input to facilitate Nithio’s growth strategy.

    This position will require experience and expertise in:

    • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts including non-disclosure agreements, licensing agreements, loan agreements, security documents, service level agreements, corporate documentation, operating agreements, capital markets documentation, and M&A transaction documentation, including joint venture agreements;
    • Providing practical legal and commercial input and advice to support Nithio’s growth strategy, including new products, services, and partnerships; 
    • Providing a point of contact for legal advice and transaction management support to the Finance team in relation to the origination of the Nithio Financial Intermediary’s loan portfolio;
    • Working with business principals across functional teams in finance, operations, and data to evaluate and carry out due diligence on potential borrowers, by presenting legal and regulatory analysis to the Investment Committee and reviewing external advisor reports;
    • Collaborating with external advisors and colleagues across functional teams to find solutions to tax, regulatory, compliance, ESG, contractual, risk, and operational issues;
    • Managing multiple projects, transactions, and deadlines simultaneously with careful legal analysis and attention to detail;
    • Exercising sound legal and business judgment in dealing with colleagues, investors, borrowers, and all stakeholders;
    • Acting as a trusted adviser to Nithio’s senior management, functional team leads, internal and external stakeholders;
    • Instructing and managing external counsel, regulatory and tax advisors;
    • Liaising with Nithio Financial Intermediary’s fund administrator, managing transaction costs and producing secondary documentation; consents, board minutes, and resolutions;
    • Providing company secretarial support across the group;
    • Inputting to and maintaining precedent documentation, including loan documentation, terms of service, policies, and procedures, and other governance documentation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • LLB, J.D. or equivalent with excellent academic credentials 
    • 5+ years of relevant experience gained in a large law firm and/or in-house with a major firm in the financial sector
    • Admitted to a recognized bar and holding a current practicing certificate in a relevant jurisdiction
