    Senior Manager, Technical Learning for Sexual and Reproductive Health

    PSI seeks an innovative Senior Manager, Technical Learning to lead technical learning strategies and activities – i.e. approaches to understand, apply, and share what works and why to achieve health impact –for a portfolio of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programs in East Africa including DESIP (Delivering sustainable and equitable increases in family planning in Kenya, funded by DFID) and others in the pipeline.
    Each project has a unique capacity to contribute to the evidence base for ‘what works’ to achieve health impact. The purpose of this position is to support projects to refine, develop, and execute a deliberate approach to technical learning, starting with defining a learning agenda, creating fit-for-purpose systems for program adaptations based on emerging evidence and evolving contexts, and to strategically package and share lessons learned from the project to influence relevant technical communities of practice.

    Your contribution

    • Articulate, update and/or oversee development of Learning Agendas in line with relevant global/regional priorities
    • Facilitate PSI’s Learning through Implementation workshop series (kick-off, mid-point, and synthesis)
    • Ensure rigor in how projects use evidence (global, research, programmatic) to inform program design, ongoing adaptations, and external dissemination

    • Lead technical thought leadership dissemination (e.g. write learning briefs, host technical webinars, host online trainings, organize symposia, write and submit abstracts for conferences, etc.).
    • Foster strong relationships with key staff from the projects, PSI HQ (FPRH Department and Evidence), regional support teams, and country teams in order to streamline and maximize learning;
    • For DESIP, create and oversee implementation of County Learning Toolkits
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to link the project’s learning to activities of other relevant organizations, donors, private sector groups, national governments and other actors working in SRH;
    • Other responsibilities related to the position.

    What are we looking for?

    The Basics:

    • Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in MEL, research/knowledge translation, learning, adaptive implementation, and/or technical communications
    • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills including clear and concise technical writing, ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, data visualization, engaging presentation style, and expertise in group facilitation. Experience in the use of multi-media formats to promote technical learning and research utilization. Lead published author in technical gray and peer-reviewed literature preferred.
    • Sexual and Reproductive Health Expertise: At least 3 years’ experience working on sexual and reproductive health programs; familiarity with FPRH High Impact Practices
    • Credentials: A Master’s degree in public health, international development, or communications
    • Language: Fluency in written and spoken English;
    • Methods credibility: Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and research methods;
    • Working style. Ability to foster a culture of curiosity and adaptation. Ability to work across teams, time zones and groups over whom there is no direct authority to accomplish project goals.

    Director; Digital Health and Monitoring

    Your contribution

    You’ve got the passion, energy and experience in applying digital technology to strengthen healthcare provision, with a focus on consumer facing digital solutions and data driven decision making.Your team is focused on the goal of ensuring that the organization leverages digital technology to power consumers to better manage their health journey, and the health workforce to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. You will be responsible for the following:

    • Digital Strategy Execution Lead on oversight and accountability for the execution of the recently launched Digital Strategy: o Promote the new strategy both internally and externally o Develop and spearhead the digital strategy operational plan o Chair and co-convene with CIO the Digital Governance Council Actively engage the digital health community of practice in order to identify potential opportunities for harvesting digital solutions Engage health, marketing, and country teams in the decision-making so that the digital tools that are prioritized and implemented are both appropriate to evidence-based health practice, program structures, marketing practices, and country contexts.
    • Strategic partnerships Work closely with the Digital Governance Council and relevant departments to develop and disseminate technology partnership vetting guidance across the organisation to ensure that potential partners are effectively engaged In collaboration with Digital Health Solutions identify and cultivate institutional partnerships with reputable stake holders that are well aligned with PSI’s digital goals, including large technology companies, incubators/start-ups and academic institutions
    • Fundraising Establish the key institutional digital investments that are required to meet the Digital Strategy goal Work closely with relevant teams to identify and pursue funding opportunities to deliver the key investments
    • Implementation of digital solutions Lead strategic growth and sustainability of the Nairobi based Innovation Hub, aligning the talent pool with institutional needs to provide technical assistance through Digital Health Solutions enhancing the use of digital solutions across the organization. Identify suitable digital champions across departments and country offices to support implementation and provide them with guidance and support to accelerate the uptake of digital solutions. Work closely with global departments and country offices to identify challenges or opportunities that can potentially be addressed using digital solutions Develop and disseminate guidance on how to shape, deploy and evaluate digital solutions Coordinate the implementation of institutional driven digital solutions across different country settings Provide oversight and direct support (where applicable) to country driven digital implementations
    • Routine monitoring information management Provide support and guidance on generation of routine data across the organisation, with emphasis on real-time data capture, as well as diversifying sources of information to enrich our understanding of consumers and markets (e.g. social listening) Lead on data quality and integrity across the organisation, ensuring that standards are met with regards to handling of data Champion an institutional transformation towards PSI rapidly adapting program approaches in response to real time consumer and market insights through; o Upskilling staff on how to engage and respond to relevant data o Change management focused on nimble and responsive decision making
    • Knowledge Management and Learning Work closely with the Knowledge Management team to continually package and disseminate learning on digital and routine data engagement across the organization
    • External representation and influence Identify and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, and position PSI as a thought leader in digital health and data engagement, with particular focus on consumer powered healthcare Join and influence relevant digital communities of practice.

    • Experience: Have 8-10 years of relevant experience, including experience in the global health sphere and significant development country experience.
    • Experience working on consumer facing digital interventions would be an advantage
    • Credentials: Post-graduate degree e.g. MSc, MBA, MPH, MD, PhD in a related field.
    • Technical knowledge and credibility: Demonstrated digital health and data leader with established reputation for excellence
    • Agility: Ability to readily change the course in response to local feedback and the iterative nature of digital deployments
    • Leadership skills: Able to provide vision and direction to affect change in a diverse and decentralized global health organization. Able to promote new ideas/solutions, or challenge the status quo in an inspiring fashion
    • Management skills: A clear record of successfully managing and developing a team of motivated professionals. Demonstrated ability to develop and roll out a major new initiative in an organisation of similar size and diversity
    • Networking: A mature and active professional network that can be leveraged to provide opportunities for partnership and access to technical resources to continue to deliver PSI’s digital and data engagement ambitions
    • Communicator: Excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills. A strong communicator with a proven ability to explain digital and data related concepts to a non-technical audience in a way that they can understand and appreciate
    • Language skills: Fluent English is essential. Working knowledge of French is an advantageous. Availability: Ability to travel up to 25%. References will be required The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check
