    Mechanical Fitter

    The mechanical fitter will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of mechanical problems of production machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding and commitment to safety.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Installation and Maintenance:

    • Install, maintain, and repair components of tobacco machinery and equipment.
    • Perform routine mechanical inspections, mechanical online tasks and preventive maintenance to ensure machines operates efficiently and safely.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and repair or replace faulty components as needed.
    • Carry out equipment modifications and improvement as directed by the plant engineer.
    • Lubrication of the plant machinery regularly
    • Maintaining machine center-line e.g tracking of conveyor belts & maintaining winnowers and thresher speeds.
    • Operation of lathe machine & milling machine
    • Welding and fabrication
    • Resolve motor, conveyors & hydraulic problems
    • Scaffold erection & Performing work at height tasks
    • Inspection and maintenance of shakers, fans, gearbox, classifier & dryers.
    • Basket sharpening
    • Gutter installation

    Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing mechanical work, including lockout/tag out LOTOTO procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
    • Conduct safety inspections and recommend improvements to mitigate hazards.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Craft Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant/production Option) -KNEC.
    • At least 2 – 3 Years experience experience in a similar role.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support daily operations and complete assigned tasks.
    • Learn company policies, processes and procedures.
    • Observe and apply knowledge from senior staff.
    • Meet set goals and comply with company rules.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • No prior experience required.
    • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to develop technical skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • A positive attitude and eagerness to grow professionally.
