    Specialist; Technology Security

    Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Corporate Security Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Corporate Security, the role holder is responsible for aggregating critical information on current, new and emerging threats to determine potential impact on Business Systems for immediate remediation and on-going security risk measurement

    Key Responsibilities:

    • The person in this functional role will need to be knowledgeable in all aspects of design and implementation of complex security infrastructure architectures.
    • The role will perform the design and assist in the integration of new projects, and be expected to keep up-to-date with the latest Security trends in (but not necessarily limited to): Authentication & Authorization, Access & Identity Management, Image Hardening, Auditing, Encryption and DevOps.
    • Champion research and development (R&D) efforts in the Technology Security space, thus channeling input into the Security Strategy & Innovation Roadmap
    • Take part in the design and implementation of changes to the Systems Security components as needed by Technology Division.
    • Lead specialist forensic investigations and information security event analysis
    • Provide thought leadership in implementing hacker detection techniques
    • Lead efforts in re-engineering current processes & procedures with a view to reduce Security Opex costs
    • Ensure the delivery of secure-by-default designs and provide input into the products & services development lifecycle
    • Provide training, knowledge, general advice and capacity building within the enterprise on topics related to Technology Security

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Eng./Computer Science/Technology Management (or equivalent) from a recognized university;
    • Minimum of 4 years System Security experience – in Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessments, IDS/Firewalls/VPN administration, Content Filters, Security Scanning tools, Network and Systems Administration.
    • Minimum of 1-year focused Security experience in Incident Management/Intrusion Analysis/Reverse Engineering.
    • At least one professional Information Security Qualification: CISM/CISA/CISSP/CEH/CCSP
    • Advanced Networking Competencies: CCNA/CCNP
    • Proven hands-on experience in Microsoft & *nix Operating Systems
    • Experience in the use of vulnerability assessment tools
    • Proven experience in Cloud Technologies: Cisco UCS, EMC and VMware
    • Broad familiarity with Security Technologies within other disciplines is a definite bonus
    • Familiarity with Information Security Management Systems and Standards (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, etc.)

    Enterprise Systems Developer (ERP)

     

    Description

     

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Digital IT Department within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

    Reporting to the Manager - Enterprise Systems Planning & Delivery, the role holder is responsible for development and 3rd line support of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, Oracle Point of Service and bespoke oracle interfaces and software components.

    He or she will work with other departments within the company to identify requirements and develop solutions (database design, workflows, user/data interfaces).

    The role holder will also configure and/or customize Oracle ERP applications to meet business requirements using various database and software tools, assist in presentations of system functionality to new users and departments and enhance and create user and system documentation as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality. Ensure integration of designs across development team and design, build & test ERP components e.g. interface, conversion and report programs;
    • Appropriately monitor interfaces to oracle ERP. Provide training and support on oracle ERP modules and development tools, review & interpret technical manuals for the Oracle ERP system and assist in creating/update Oracle TAR’s;
    • Ensures the effectiveness of overall systems performance;
    • Design and develop front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and /or back-end database tier(s) for business applications;
    • Participate in the capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and /or database components;
    • Perform data modeling to analyze and specify data structures within an application system;
    • Support new and existing application development by creating modifications and enhancements for Oracle ERP applications and perform high level system design;
    • Conduct business user requirements analysis and specification;
    • Specify computer system requirements for the solution of complex business problems and formulates designs for their solutions;
    • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented;
    • Interact with clients to gather and refine requirements;
    • Create test plans, test data sets and perform automated testing to ensure all components of the developed systems meet specifications;
    • Work directly with the IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations;
    • Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents;

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science or technical related field;
    • Certification in Database systems and RDBMS systems, OCA, OCP or ODI certifications;
    • 3 years of work experience in Oracle ERP applications development, which includes system customization and report designs;
    • Conversant with OAF development
    • 3 years of development experience with Microsoft development tools e.g. Java, VB, Fox Pro, Visual FoxPro;
    • 3 years of development experience with low level programming C++, C;
    • 3 years of work experience with RDMS preferably MS SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, and Informix;
    • Experience in data warehousing, business analysis, knowledge in Business Systems modeling and data retrieval
    • 4GL for programming – Visual Basic/Oracle Application builder;
    • Unix user skills;
    • Experience in processes and procedures management;

    DevOps Engineer

    Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Digital IT Department within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

    Reporting to the Manager; DevOps, the role holder responsibilities will include developing and building IT infrastructure, installing and configuring solutions, implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators and perform script maintenance and updates.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Designing, creating, validating and maintaining templates, playbooks, and modules for configuration management and infrastructure deployment tools leveraging open source tools with a bias to cloud native technologies
    • Participating in the analysis of and document requirements for development of new or improved infrastructure automation;
    • Use various tools to orchestrate solutions i.e. Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Tools.
    • Build independent cloud native, web-based tools, micro services and solutions.
    • Write scripts and automation using Bash/Java/Python/Groovy/Ruby
    • Implement integrations requested by software engineering team.
    • Deploy updates and fixes.

    Qualifications

    • Experience and knowledge of agile methodologies
    • 2+ years' experience in DevOps processes and tools (Ansible, Docker, Vagrant, Chef/Puppet, Jenkins, NewRelic, Splunk).
    • Demonstrable experience of continuous integration tools like Bamboo or Jenkins.

    Database Administrator

    Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Infrastructure and Cloud Solutions, the role holder responsibilities will include Administration, Performance tuning, Capacity planning, management and 3rd line support of ALL Safaricom Enterprise Systems including Oracle eBusiness Suite (ERP), BI Systems, Loyalty Management System, Billing databases, CRM  Fraud Management, Revenue Assurance, POS and all other IT database systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Database administration and support lifecycle including backup/recovery, automation, maintenance
    • Supporting the development, system test, user acceptance, and training and production database environments.
    • 99% availability maintained for all databases.
    • 95% of tickets raised are responded to within the 1st hour of incident reporting.
    • 90% of tickets closure maintained
    • Identifying and implementing Best Practices for Database Administration.
    • Design BCP and HA solutions for critical systems in order to achieve zero downtime during maintenance and failures.
    • Assisting Infrastructure, EBU teams and other Technology teams with hardware and support requirements for database administration.
    • Conformance to security standards for databases and data integrity
    • Develop retention policies and architecture for all systems, whilst maintaining BCP.
