    Community Nurse Counsellor

     (KAVI–ICR) –AD/4/110/21 (2 POSTS) (CHS)

    Job Description

    The applicant will be responsible for counselling volunteers at a busy research institute, collect blood samples, observe vital signs, assist physicians during clinical screening and administer questionnaires to volunteers. The person will also be required to undertake community work. They must be able to work with minimum supervision and be ready to work for long hours.

    Minimum requirements

    • Applicants must have at least a KCSE Grade C+ or its equivalent
    • Diploma in Nursing, those with B.Sc. Nursing degree will have an added advantage.
    • Must be registered with Nursing Council of Kenya and be in possession of a valid nursing practicing license.
    • They must also have a certificate in VCT, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Counseling training from a recognized institution.

    Experience

    • At least two years’ experience in a similar position.
    • Those with community mobilization experience will have added advantage

    Terms of appointment

    This a one year contract renewable by mutual consent. The salary is negotiable depending on the level of education and work experience.

    LMS Manager

    CHS –AD/4/109/21(1POST) (CHS)

    The Position

    Reporting to the e–Learning Coordinator and Sub–Recipient Project Director, the LMS Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the teaching and learning processes are possible through the Moodle LMS and build capacity for users (learners, technical support officers, course and category admins, instructors and school administrators) to maximize the benefits of the LMS.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support to ensure users get the most out of the LMS applications and features and build capacity for technical support officers to handle the everyday LMS logistical requirements and processes.
    • Maintain the Learning Management System to ensure optimal functionality and its website to ensure a suitable look and feel and current and updated frontpages
    • Maintain accurate LMS records and analyze Big Data to gauge effectiveness of trainings and provide advisory reports to the management
    • Auditing of compliance of LMS tasks and activities to the University policies and procedures
    • Assign roles and responsibilities to team members and corporate clients and define user roles.
    • Review eLearning content before it is accessed by the target audience to ensure it meets the agreed organizational standards.
    • Make consultations with other internal and external teams in order to implement the best learning practices across the LMS
    • Keep track of the freshly uploaded relevant courses, materials, and workshops within the LCMS and monitor for any issues in access and navigational configurations.
    • Recognize and resolve the issues that may appear when it comes to course design, its configuration or infrastructure.
    • Make sure that the LMS issues are resolved properly and fast to fix bugs and unexpected errors.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned by the e–Learning Coordinator and the Sub–recipient Project Director.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related field or Equivalent.
    2. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
    3. Minimum experience of 5years
    4. Has a relevant variety of technical skills that are relevant for LMS management, including PHP language, MySQL, Javascript, web design, graphics design, HTML/CSS, and web 2.0 technologies.
    5. Has strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise with diverse stakeholders
    6. Has advanced organizational and time management skills.
    7. A solution-oriented team worker with a keen eye for details
    8. Familiarity with the compliance requirements of an academic institution environment.
    9. Experience in conversion process and tools for online content.
    10. Ability to work under minimum supervision

    E-Learning Content & Support Officers

    (CHS)

    The Position

    Reporting to the e–Learning Coordinator and the LMS Manager, the e–Learning Content & Support Officers shall provide technical assistance to end users of the learning managing system and content support to ensure the online teaching and learning processes for the college run effectively and optimally. The position, as a part of the LMS Help Desk team, will address, troubleshoot, and document Level 1 through Level 3 LMS support while providing top–notch customer service, and expert technical assistance. Additional responsibilities include conversion and/or updating of online content to suit the requirements of the subject matter experts and testing online content before it is launched for learner uptake

    Responsibilities

    • First point of contact for user/client inquiries through the ticketing system, emails, and phone calls.
    • Upload, publish, and test e–Learning content to ensure proper functionality
    • Add or edit entities in the system (users, activities and resources, plugin configurations, calendar management, etc.).
    • Set–up and configure new courses as per the relevant requirements
    • Perform monitoring of course elements and recommend engagement strategies for courses.
    • Create online course content using authoring tools as per instructions given
    • Support online course content development and updating/improving of course content on the LMS.
    • Assist with the updating and general maintenance of the LMS website.
    • Escalate technical bugs and other system issues from identification through resolution
    • Generate generic and custom reports from the LMS to inform the administrators and instructors on course usage
    • Maintain the integrity of all data on the LMS
    • Any other duties that may be assigned by the e–Learning Coordinator and the LMS Manager.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or related field.
    2. Minimum experience of 1 year in content conversion or technical support services.
    3. Experience in authoring online content using tools like Articulate or Adobe Captivate
    4. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Apple Final Cut Pro video or Camtasia Studio and audio production software
    5. Familiarity with the compliance requirements of an academic institution environment.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Strong computer skills, including a high level of comfort with web–based applications
    • Knowledge of Moodle Learning Management System, including course content management and user administration.
    • Web and graphic design skills
    • Good communication skills and excellent in time management.
    • Good analytical and report writing skills
