    Clinical Officer, KAVI ICR

    The Project

    This is a collaborative study of the University of Nairobi, the WestVac Biopharma Co., Ltd. and  West China Hospital of Sichuan University on Recombinant COVID-19 vaccine (Sf9 cells) to be done at the University of Nairobi’s Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative - Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR). The location of the study is Nairobi.

    Minimum requirements

    1. Applicants should be holders of KCSE mean grade C or equivalent KCE grade
    2. They must have a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and registered with Clinical Officers Council
    3. She/he must have Good Clinical Practice certificate and Protecting Human Research Participants certificate
    4. Those w ho ha ve worked in a research environment will have an added advantage.

    Terms of appointment

    This a one year contract renewable by mutual consent. The salary is negotiable depending on the  level of education and work experience.

    Laboratory Quality Assurance Officer, KAVI- Institute of Clinical Research

    Job specifications

    1. The applicant must have a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a relevant field, or  equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    2. He/she must also be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and  Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
    3. He/she must be ISO 15189 trained.
    4. He/she must have a GCLP certificate.

    The applicant should have at least two (2) years’ experience as Quality Assurance Officer.
    An applicant who has worked in a research institution will have an added advantage.

    Study Nurse, Emotive Study

    The Project

    E-MOTIVE is a World Health Organization (WHO) cluster randomized trial to be conducted in sixteen (16) hospitals in Kenya. This is a two (2) year research project seeking to deliver a reduction in morbidity and mortality by early detection and treatment of post-partum hemorrhage using the MOTIVE bundle.

    The Position

    The positions are distributed nationwide with appointment being on full time basis.

    Job specifications

    Applicants must have KCSE or its equivalent qualification with a pass in English.

    1. They must also be qualified as Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife OR Kenya Registered  Community Health Nurse OR have a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. 
    2. He/she should have at least one (1) year working experience in a busy maternity unit.
    3. He/she should have basic computer training particularly in Microsoft Office applications and good IT skills. 
    4. The applicant should possess fluent writing and communication skills in both English and  Kiswahili. 
    5. Training and experience in research will be an added advantage.

    Job description

    The successful candidate will be expected to:

    1. Screen and enroll eligible participants in the study and ensure proper administration of  consent procedures. 
    2. He/she will also administer screening and enrollment questionnaire to the participants 
    3. Ensure data is collected accurately and resolve discrepancies 
    4. Participate in training study site team members distributed nationwide
    5. Prepare weekly monthly and quarterly reports for the study coordinator.

    Terms of appointment

    This a position whose tenure is one (1) year contract renewable based on performance and on 
    mutual agreement.
