    Oncology Market Access Lead East Africa

    What you’ll do?

    • The successful candidate will be in charge of developing and implementation of an integrated strategy for obtaining and maximizing market access and reimbursement for AstraZeneca Medicines in the Oncology therapeutic area in line with company's goals & objectives. Development of medium to long-term access strategies for new therapies to maximize the value of the offering for payers and patients throughout their life cycle.
    • You will create an outstanding local company image aligned to AstraZeneca’s African Cluster Goal to work with local partners in Africa to make healthcare systems more resilient, effective, and sustainable, advocating for reform and building capabilities to address unmet medical need, improve access to quality healthcare and provide solutions along a continuum of care – from prevention, awareness, diagnosis and treatment to post-treatment and wellness.

    Some areas of focus for this role will include:

    Development and Implementation of the Market Access Strategic Plan

    • Partnering with Government and Private Funders to ensure optimal funding, Guideline and/or Formulary Listings.
    • Effective delivery of commercial input to market access process and team.
    • Interpretation and the tailoring of available evidence to support market access for AZ brands in collaboration with the Medical division.
    • Identify evidence gaps that may inhibit market access and develop plans to fill the gaps.
    • Ability to establish measurement system to track progress and drive effective corrective action when needed.

    Stakeholder Mapping

    • Relationship building, Customer Engagements and Collaboration with Patient Advocacy Groups, NGO’s, Donor Funders, Mission Hospitals, Academia, and Research Organizations, amongst others.
    • Build strategic partnerships with healthcare consulting companies to facilitate Patient Access Programs & Patient Support Programs i.e., win-win access solutions.
    • Developing and Disseminating AstraZeneca Value Propositions for respective Promoted Products to differentiate and demonstrate value.

    Policy Shaping

    • Health Technology Assessment (Budget Impact Models, Cost effectiveness Models, Alternative Contracting Models, Innovative Value Solutions) where required; Develop or locally adapt Global Economics Models.
    • Lead East Africa Pricing Strategy in line with local and regional Pricing Policies; Optimize pricing outcomes through timely and accurate data analysis and submission.

    Cross Functional Project Management

    • Manages cross functional teams optimally in order to achieve the brand objectives.
    • Identifies and manages key interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery according to agreed time lines.
    • Effectively facilitates key meetings and issues.

    Maintained Administrative Systems

    • Report as required on strategy implementation and budget spend.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedure.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum 5 years Market Access experience.
    • Understanding of East Africa Healthcare Market.
    • Thorough understanding of AZ business model with specific knowledge of brand team operation, brand planning and sales model.
    • Teamwork and leadership skills, including the ability to consult extensively with cross functional teams and act within a matrix organization.
    • Strong pricing background for funder reimbursement purposes.
    • Basic Knowledge of health economics, outcomes research and economic modelling is required.
    • Strategic thinking, and flexibility to execute at an operational and strategic level.

    Business Insights Manager SSA

    What you’ll do?

    • The Business Insights Manager will plan, direct, and oversee a wide range of analyses, related to the current and future business of the organization and proactively interact with senior commercial leaders to ensure sustainable performance over time. Through partnering within the commercial team, you will aid in managing risks and opportunities as well as strategic decisions through leveraging business insights and competitive / market intelligence.

    Some areas of focus for this role will include:

    • Proactively identify business information needs/issues.
    • Provide brand / market evaluation and interpretation and provide business insights and competitive / market intelligence in aiding strategy decisions by using internal and external datasets.
    • Leads the Operational Planning Process, providing analytical expertise to the commercial teams, driving strategic and operational excellence.
    • Prepares outputs of the process and participates in presentations and recommendations to leadership through data interpretation, visualization, and insight generation to support business critical decisions.
    • Leads the portfolio prioritization process within the brand team and in support of the TA.
    • Support launch excellence processes for new products / indications from commercial perspective, managing forecasting models to support in-market cases / new product launch viability.
    • Leads patient flow modelling and patient analytics. 
    • Partner with the commercial team, producing brand volume forecasts, consulting with the team to manage risks and opportunities for the business, leading to objective and accurate forecasts supported by insight & analytics.
    • Develop and maintain market research budgets for the brand team, also determining primary market research design and overseeing project / vendor management when needed.

    Diagnostic Lead SSA

    What you’ll do?

    • You will support the timely, high quality in-market companion diagnostics / testing solutions to enable optimal patient access and treatment throughout the lifecycle of oncology products. Develop and implement tactical plans with an understanding of clinical and diagnostic operational issues in the testing pathway thereby ensuring tailored testing solutions and appropriate access support.
    • You will work collaboratively with the medical scientific liaisons, local sales teams and market access colleagues and execute on tactical plans with a good understanding of the medical and clinical operational issues on the interface between the Oncologists, Geneticists, Pathologists and Molecular Pathologist and the testing pathway, helping to deliver appropriate information, insights, and solutions. Gather insights and deliver education as appropriate to internal and external stakeholders.

    Some areas of focus for this role will include:

    • Identify and develop needs-based relationships with pathologists, molecular pathologists, molecular diagnostics kit suppliers, scientific experts, laboratory decision makers, thought-leaders, and scientific organizations.
    • Identify barriers to testing through partnerships with diagnostic companies, lab networks, and Health Care Professionals (HCPs). Execution of tactical plans locally to support and educate on appropriate testing.
    • Help develop robust testing facilities in strategic centers, including protocol support, working on identification and removing bottlenecks in testing through education, awareness, and advocacy.
    • Help to deliver appropriate, approved, educational information on disease, pathology and diagnostics to internal and external stakeholders. Deliver highly technical and medical data presentations to Pathologists, HCPs and multidisciplinary teams.
    • Support externally sponsored research as appropriate
    • Share diagnostic quality data with laboratory staff.
    • Encourage multi-disciplinary diagnostic quality assurance programs at Institutions.
    • Understand the current and emerging diagnostic testing environment.
    • Share internally approved, educational information on diagnostics to the heads of clinical/pathology Laboratories and their staff.
    • Support strategy roll out and educate on need for testing.
    • Enforce the AZ Code of Conduct, SOPs as well as align with all regulatory and compliance requirements for the role.

    • Experience and knowledge of a broad range of oncology diagnostic biomarkers.
    • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the industry and diagnostics.
    • Excellent project management ability.

    Cancer Care Africa Program Lead

    What you’ll do?
