DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SANITATION

JOB GROUP M - V/NO. KCPSB/06/12/2020

CONTRACT DURATION: 3 YEARS

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB.) degree from a recognized institution.
• Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;
• Registration license from the Medical Practioners and Dentists Board;
• Certificate in Computer applications skills from a recognized institution;
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases;
• Performing medical and surgical procedures;
• Preparing and responding to emergencies and disaster;
• Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment;
• Providing health education, maintaining medical records, health information and data;
• Counselling patients and their relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
• Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical interns;
• Preparing requisite documents for registration.

CONTRACT DURATION: 3 YEARS

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Successfully completed one-year internship from a recognized institution
• Certificate of registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
• Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution.
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Providing dental care including diagnosing common oral conditions, treating, prescribing and referring;
• Carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery;
• Prosthetics and conservative dentistry;
• Facilitating admission, disease investigations of patients, report writing and assisting in theatre activities;
• Collecting information on dental health information system;
• Organizing discharge summaries and follow up of patients;
• Acting as the first on-call on duty.

• Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B Pharm) from a recognized institution.
• Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution
• Registration Certificate by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and
• Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter G of the Constitution...

Duties and Responsibilities

• Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contradictions, drug interactions, and appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
• Preparing and dispensing of medicine according to the good dispensing practices and counselling patients on the use of medicines;
• Making extemporaneous preparations
• Participating in ward rounds;
• Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges;
• Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording activities undertaken;
• Recommending Over the Counter (OTC) medicines to patients /clients with simple medical conditions and making necessary referrals and
• Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers.

CONTRACT DURATION: 3 YEARS

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a:

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution; and
• Certificate of Registration by Clinical Officers' Council
• A valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers' Council

Duties and responsibilities:
The officer will work under guidance of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

• Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients' common ailments at an outpatient or inpatient health facility;
• Implementing Community Health Care activities in liaison with other health workers;
• Guiding and counselling patients, clients and staff on health issues;
• Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
• Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill Collecting and compiling clinical data; and
• Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, Mean Grade C (plain)
• Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Registered Nursing/Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution iii. Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya iv. Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya
• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patients' outcomes;
