    Clinical Nurse, PZP

    Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above position based in Nairobi Kenya. The position holder will report to the Nurse Manager, PZP Department.

    Responsibilities:

    • Complete head to toe assessment and re-assessment of patients to identify their care needs
    • Develop written care plans based on patients’ needs, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of interventions

    Clinical Nurse, CATH LAB

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs health assessment of patients brought to Cath lab to identify their care needs

    Research Assistant- Nurse, Department of Haematology and Oncology

    Job Summary

    The position is required to provide competent and compassionate care for oncology patients, including ensuring safe  and   competent   management   of  chemotherapy   administration   and  other   supportive therapies for cancer patients.  In addition the Research Assistant – Nurse will be a Member of a multi-disciplinary research team of the CRU, and will be responsible for clinical and research support for all research trials, including study and patient management.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan, organize, and engage in the day to day clinical and related research study activities under the direction of, and in consultation with the lead doctors and managers
    • Review research protocols, plan daily tasks and study flow in conjunction with the other study team members (pharmacy, lab, regulatory, etc.)
    • Assist in directing the daily flow of patients and study related tasks
    • Facilitate and provide care of research patients within the CRU’s scope of its central support services
    • Perform routine technical procedures such as patients’ vital signs, I/V cannulation, ECG, drug administration, etc. as per policies and procedures of AKUH,N and approved research protocols
    • Provide laboratory support services including phlebotomy and collection/handling of required specimens (e.g., stool, urine, nasal swabs) using standard techniques

    Requirements

    Executive Assistant, Hospital Administration

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Assistant will provide executive support to the CEO, visiting executive team members, visiting dignitaries; in planning, organizing and managing the affairs of the CEO’s office and its critical strategic and operational functions.     • Arranging and coordinating airport transfers and ground transport locally and in the countries visited while regularly tracking and staying abreast of latest immigration and visa rules, travel advisories, flight schedules/terminal changes, etc. and advising the CEO/Executives accordingly.  When necessary, taking action to change, reroute or cancel tickets and ensuring cancelled tickets are refunded or reused as per fare rules.
    • Overall administration and coordination of the affairs of the CEO’s office including the customer service function as well as supervision of support staff.
    • Facilitating and responsible for administrative aspects of planned workshops, conferences and retreats headed by the CEO.
    • Ensuring the visiting executive team members are provided with appropriate working space and superior administrative support through their stay.
    • On a regular basis facilitating and ensuring access to AKUH services by VIPs affiliated to AKU/AKUH and AKDN in general, keeping track of the treatment process and follow-up on payments post care/discharge.

    Biostatistician, Population Health

    Currently the University offers fellowship programmes in the following specialties: Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology and Paediatric Neurology.

    Job Summary

    The Department of Population Health (DPH) Senior Statistician will support research projects/studies conducted by Faculty, students and Residents in the Faculty of Health Sciences, using various research designs including cohort, cross-sectional, randomized controlled, quasi-experimental, and diagnostic accuracy studies. S/he will teach Biostatistics courses (basic and advanced levels) in the under-graduate and post-graduate programmes in the Medical College, and will lead writing research proposals and grant applications for submission to external bodies. S/he will also provide advice on statistical methodology, and oversee quality control during data collection for ongoing projects, analysis of data and preparing articles for publication.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in calculating sample size and analysis plans for research.
    • Assist faculty, students and staff in planning and developing the statistical aspects of their research manuscripts, including data analysis and interpretation of data collected.
    • Guide students on thesis research writing.
    • Supervise Masters (including MSc in Population Health Science and MMEd) and PhD students.

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) 
    • Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
    • Accredited certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
    • 1-year post internship experience preferably in a busy emergency department.

    Facilities Coordinator, Outreach Administration Office

    Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the planning, and implementation of all old and new fit out of Outreach Facilities, Facilities maintenance and construction related activities. The position holder will report to the Outreach Operations Manager.

    Responsibilities:

    • Participate in the assessment of new Medical Center sites and work with consultants in preparation for construction activities.
    • Take lead in the planning and implementation of new projects by coordinating with the projects office in creating new Medical Center designs and layouts, assisting in development of full scale project plans and participate in the tendering process of new medical centers.
    • Responsible for monitoring the progress of ongoing projects and ensuring timely completion of projects
    • Ensure existing outreach clinics are well maintained, functional and meet changing demands of the market.
    • Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
    • Coordinate the servicing and repair of all Non-medical equipment and systems e.g Generators.
    • Conduct market research on materials and labour trends, new services and appliances and update the outreach management for planning purposes.

    Requirements:

    1. Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical).
    2. Diploma in Project Management
    3. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in building construction/ architecture/ civil engineering or equivalent
    4. Understanding Fully the construction process including construction plan and specifications, relevant building code requirements and government permits
    5. Certification in Technical Computer skills including AutoCAD, ArchiCAD & MS-Projects
    6. Understanding of safety regulations of work environment
