    Project Support Intern

    Responsibilities:

    • This position is located within the Regional Office for Africa, with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer for West Africa Region, the Project Support Intern will be responsible for the tasks below.
    • Assist in reviewing all legal documents including Contribution Agreements, Agreements of Co-operation, Memoranda of Understanding, Request Forms, Internal MEMOs etc for correctness prior to submission to the Legal Office and following up on clearance by the legal unit.
    • Support with reviewing project related documents for accuracy and completeness prior to the submission and follow up on clearance of the Programme Review Committee.
    • Assist in reviewing open commitment for liquidation or closure based on UN-Habitat Weekly Management Reports.
    • Support with reviewing and updating databases for project financial status and implementing partners ensuring timely reporting and disbursement of funds.
    • Assist in reviewing supporting documents for processing payment to vendors for goods and services provided.
    • Support with tracking all the administrative requests received from the country offices and follow up with the Administrative Officer for assignment allocation and execution within the required timelines.
    • Perform any other duty as requested.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),
    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),
    • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.  Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
    • Preferred areas of study: 4th Year Undergraduate or Graduate in Business, Administration, Economics, Project Management, Accounting, International Relations or any Social Sciences and related fields. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
    • However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

    Filmmaker and Video Editor

    Main duties:

    • Record high-quality video footage (both with a green screen and real background) such as lectures and interviews with experts, using self-owned recording equipment;
    • Develop scripts for videos and animations;
    • Provide guidance on framing and composition to achieve desired visual outcomes for different video recordings;
    • Manage post-production tasks such as editing videos including by ensuring quality audio, adding transitions, creating and adding graphics, and integrating subtitles;
    • Produce explanatory animations to complement the recordings, as required by each assigned project;
    • Design and develop 2D and/or 3D animations to support e-learning and outreach materials;
    • Undertake a few review rounds during video production process by collecting and incorporating feedback from the CDTU team and relevant external partners;
    • Any other tasks as discussed and agreed with relevant Programme Managers in the Unit. Format: Decisions on the usage of specific styles should be made in line with the corporate and project’s branding guidelines and in liaison with UN-Habitat’s Capacity Development & Training Unit.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • A high school diploma is required.
    • The years of experience will be reduced by 2 for candidates who possess a bachelor’s degree in film production, digital media, design or related field.
    • A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in film production, digital media, design or graphics required.
    • Demonstrated experience of successfully completed video and animation work for a variety of clients required.
    • Proven experience working for specific target audiences from start to end and to deliver concrete products based on tight timelines is desirable.
