Role Responsibility
With excellent English language skills, you will have experience of business reporting, delivering creative output for digital, TV and radio platforms. Working closely with the London, Nairobi, Lagos and Johannesburg bureaux, you will prepare edited material either working in a self-op environment or with a craft editor to produce inserts and packages for the various outlets such as Business TV features, News bulletins, Online or social. You will source and brief contributors for live and edited stories and interview them for broadcast and alert editors to breaking news, being ready to file accurate reports on the spot.

World Service Language Services is a key provider of content for the BBC’s global news operation providing news and content in 41 languages across all platforms for both UK and international audiences. Increasingly we are a digital first service – honing video, digital, mobile and social content for our audiences. The BBC World Service remains the leading international broadcaster in Africa, reaching a weekly audience of more than 100 million across all platforms and Social Media. BBC Africa aims to make, explain and connect African and global stories by providing a unique insight into the main stories of the day in original formats.
Role Responsibility
In this role you will offer original and creative ideas for multimedia content for Africa TV audiences, as well as radio and online audiences. You will report, research, write, edit and adapt stories and will be responsible for studio production of live and pre-recorded programmes.
Although the roles focus on TV output, you can expect to be involved in all aspects of multimedia journalist, including presenting, interviewing, writing for the web and developing our social media offer.
Our multi-media output is varied but with a strong emphasis on regional and international news and current affairs.Tight deadlines and news updates are the norm, and the ability to enjoy and thrive in such a fast-paced production environment is a quality we look for in all prospective staff.

The successful candidates will have proven track record of producing stories and programmes for TV.
