    Nurse

    Ref: CEH/HR/REC/031/2021

    Place of work: City Eye Hospital- Main or any other branches or  vision centers as may be assigned 

    Reporting to: Unit Nurse In- Charge Seniority Level Middle

    Main Purpose of the Role

    Reporting to the respective Unit Nurse In- Charge, the incumbent shall be tasked to provide high quality nursing care  to patients while upholding City Eye Hospital’s standards of excellence in customer service.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Taking Visual Acuity and Intraocular Pressures of patients while entering accurate recordings of the same in the patient’s file.
    2. Taking vital signs and recording findings into the patient’s files.
    3. Assisting clinicians and doctors during patient examination, screening and eye procedures.
    4. Scrubbing and circulating for various surgical cases in the eye theatre.
    5. Taking care of patients in the wards.
    6. Performing Eye Examination scans on the patients i.e. OCT, Visual Field, Corneal Topography, biometry and  fundus photo.
    7. Offering pre-operative, intra-operative and post- operative care.
    8. Stocking exam, procedure and theatre rooms with prerequisite supplies and equipment.
    9. Eye irrigation, swabbing and applying eye pads.
    10. Cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments and tools before and after use.
    11. Administering and dispensing prescribed treatment to patients.
    12. Patients education and booking patients for various procedures
    13. Examine and triage eye patients, recording findings and suggested treatment in the main hospital, it branches  or during outreach medical camps.
    14. Preparing and submitting accurate/ timely management reports 
    15. Take part in company projects and carry out any other tasks that may be assigned to them by their Line 
    16. Manager and/ or any other person placed in authority over them.

    Knowledge and Experience Required

    1. Valid nursing council of Kenya license
    2. KRCHN/ KRN certificate from a recognized institution
    3. Higher diploma in ophthalmic nursing will be an added advantage
    4. Certificate of BLS will be an added advantage
    5. At least 2 years working experience in a busy hospital/clinic Environment
    6. Eye hospital working experience will be an added advantage

    HR & Administration Assistant

    Reporting to:

    HR & Administration Officer/ Training  Coordinator

    Seniority Level Junior

    Main Purpose of the Role

    To provide Human Resources and Administration support in the relating functions while ensuring adherence to the laid-out policies and procedures within the department, company and prevailing labor laws.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Engage and assist in handling inquiries regarding company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to 
    2. employees
    3. Open and maintain departmental files and ensure records are updated regularly and as required.
    4. Manage the staff database including regularly updating staff details, addition of new employees, updating  monthly and daily locum staff and recording exiting employees.
    5. Leave management; including daily processing of leave applications, sending monthly and quarterly updates,  and recording new enrolments.
    6. Bio-metric system management; including enrolment of staff and cancellation, processing/downloading 
    7. reports and weekly updates ensuring employee attendance is managed in line with company policy
    8. Ensure the daily operations of the HR department are conducted in accordance to department guidelines and  that the operations are completed on time and are of high quality.
    9. Participate in the recruitment process for junior employees by short-listing candidates, preparation, scheduling  and participation in interviews, communicating to successful and unsuccessful candidates.
    10. Accurate and timely filing of HR documents
    11. Setting up, planning and taking minutes on any HR related meeting.
    12. Monitor the performance of the house keeping staff and ensure that the facility remains clean, safe and wellmaintained
    13. Ensure availability and adequacy of various utilities (Rentokil sanitary bins, pest control, fire and safety  equipment, water services, electricity, ventilation/air conditioning, waste disposal)
    14. Receive errand request for office support staff and plan their daily schedule

    16. Coordinate the renewal process including cost approval, processing applications and necessary follow ups
    17. Ensure proper display of licenses as per statutory requirements
    18. Knowledge and Experience Required
    19. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or any other Social Sciences.
    20. Professional Certification preferred (CHRP or Higher Diploma)
    21. Minimum three years of experience in a similar position; experience within the health sector is preferred.
    22. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
    23. A member of IHRM in good standing

    Ophthalmic Assistant Trainee

    Ref: CEH/HR/REC/030/2021 

    Place of work: City Eye Hospital- Main and other branches or vision  centers 
    Reporting to: Unit Nurse In- Charge Seniority Level Entry

    Main Purpose of the Role

    This is an initial one-year apprenticeship program, whereby the successful applicants for the program are taken through  intense theoretical and practical on-the-job training aimed at equipping them with skills required by Ophthalmic  Assistants. Once successful in the training, the trainee shall then be redeployed in the patient service centers in any of  our facilities to provide assistance to our clinical and patient care teams.

    Knowledge and Experience Required

    • KCSE certificate attained not later than 2019, with a minimum grade of D+.
    • Computer literacy
    • Previous work experience in a hospital shall be an added advantage.

    Key Skills and Competencies Required

    1. Good communication and Customer Care Skills.
    2. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    3. Demonstrated ability to uphold and align oneself with the core values of city eye hospital.
