    Field Technology Assistants (4) - Kisumu

    The Opportunity

    Living Goods supports Community Health Workers in Uganda and Kenya who teach families in their communities how to improve health and well-being

    We believe that successful deployment of technology, specifically mobile tools, is a critical element in contributing to achieving the organization’s commitment to managing a community health program that is scalable, impactful, and cost effective. As such, we are seeking Field Technology Assistants to join our team in Kenya.

    As a Field Technology Assistant, you will implement and support game-changing innovations and support Living Goods’ mission critical mobile tools and Living Goods’ branch LAN (both hardware and software). Based in any county we have operations, you will work with our Nairobi-based Technology and Operations teams, and will play a key role in implementing and supporting multiple technology innovations to improve diagnosis and treatments by CHVs, and enable our team and county level teams support and supervise Community Health Volunteers.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Field Technology Assistant will be responsible for:

    • Installing and configuring and supporting computer systems and networks (including operating systems, PCs, printers, routers, antivirus, APKs, etc).
    • Support and train staff with their IT requirements during and after on-boarding.
    • Provide support for mobile devices and applications to Living Goods staff, county staff, community health extension workers and CHVs within the assigned region/ county/sub county
    • Resolve technology (hardware & software) failures/faults within agreed time limits.
    • Implement mobile application upgrades as required including providing support during co-design, refinements and document lessons related to utilization of the application
    • Support rollout of new applications.
    • Keep a detailed record of Sub county systems and mobile devices/application issues for purposes of reference and implementing improvements.
    • Support the LG team at county and sub county level during training, review meetings, during reporting and field visits.
    • Back up sub county systems and ensure a current working backup is held offsite.
    • Perform other professional duties as identified within the context of the role as directed by the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
    • At least 1 years ‘experience troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
    • Experience operating and troubleshooting Android smartphones & tablets a must.
    • Willingness to travel in the field.
    • Strong customer focus.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize many open cases at one time
    • Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the problem is and explain the solution;
    • Ability to prioritize your workload
    • Excellent verbal communications skills in both English and Kiswahili.
    • Ability to work in a team and independently.

    Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals

    • Servers and applications infrastructure availability.
    • Minimize downtime duration for Sub county systems.
    • Timely resolution and sign-off of issues.
    • Timely closure of incidents and fast resolution of issues.
    • Elimination of errors and/or rework during update execution.

    Community Health Program Manager - Kisumu

    To match our community health workers as connectors in the community, we're looking for a Program Manager to serve as the connector to the County Health Management Team, County community health focal persons at county and sub county levels, community health workers, community health extension workers and other stakeholders at county level. . A passionate public health professional with a track record managing field-based public health programs. Knowledge of innovative ways to increase demand and coverage of immunizations and contraceptives. Experienced in community health systems strengthening. The ability to collaboratively manage projects from beginning to end. And the people skills to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

    Your background

    • Public Health experience. You have 8+ years' experience working on public health programs or research and an MPH, MA or MS in public health, social sciences, international development or related field.
    • Health Systems: Experience in health systems strengthening including technical assistance approaches, coaching and mentorship of government teams.
    • Policies: Well versed with health policies development and implementation.
    • Project management skills. You know how to break down a project into manageable parts and timelines. From a strategy and budget, you can work with your colleagues to create activities and plans. You deliver within timelines and budget
    • Budget management. You are capable to develop budgets and work plans
    • Organizational skills. You thrive at creating order out of chaos and at setting and monitoring goals and objectives.
    • Write well and speak simply. You can write about complex topics like family planning, immunization and community health systems strengthening. Instead of a dense program update you can write a readable report. You know how to hook people's attention and tell a good story.
    • Analytical skills. You understand data, are able to institute and drive data use practices to enable high performance, achievement of key performance indicators and quality service delivery
    • Problem solving skills. You know how to identify problems and find solutions. You like to get things done in a structured, methodical way. You can challenge status quo respectfully

    Technical Advisors (7) - Kisumu

    The Opportunity

    Living Goods Kenya is co-designing with county governments, how to assist their networks of Community Health Volunteers and to provide technical assistance in implementing community health. LG will provide hands-on support, to build and strengthen community health systems, implement mHealth technologies and performance management support. County Governments recognize a need to implement innovative approaches to achieve significant results in key areas within the reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health (RMNCH) space.

    The goal of Living Goods support is to build capacity in order that high impact community health is managed by government and to fully owned by the Country Health Management Teams to ensure sustainability in the long term.

    To support our ambitious goals in Kenya, we seek an experienced, innovative and passionate individual, with a strong-track record of delivering results, to join our Community Health Systems Strengthening team as Technical Advisors, Supervision. The Technical Advisor will be assisting a network of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) within a sub county, primarily to support the Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) deliver high impact through best practice, digitally enabled performance management and supervision and supporting the sub county and county health teams to deliver impactful community health.

    Location: Kisumu – (Sub County level)

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support by conducting trainings and coaching sessions for sub county community health focal person, community health extension workers (CHEWs), Community Health Assistants (CHAs) and sub-county health management teams (SCHMT) on performance management and supervision of CHVs.
    • Provide ongoing coaching of Sub County community health focal person and county health management teams on how to review and analyse data on the performance dashboards and interpret to support CHVs to deliver against targets.
    • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building across the sub county on service delivery, supply chain management, digital health, management of community health human resources, and compensation of CHVs, among others, and share learnings and get feedback.
    • Support the sub county community health focal person, CHEWs and other county health teams on field visits
    • Support the Program Manager in all engagements and co-design at county and sub county levels, helping to establish ways of working ensuring the county and sub county government are fully engaged.
    • Support the Program Manager to monitor performance based on milestones demonstrating that Living Goods and the County Government are able to achieve the set performance metrics sustainably over time.
    • As needed, represent and offer support in county and sub county technical meetings and engagements and actively seek out, identify, advise upon and implement opportunities for collaborative work across the health sector.
    • Prepare and present sub county level reports, presentations and key insights as necessary to support the Program Manager.
    • Support the Program Manager and Sub County Community Health focal person to ensure CHEWs are equipped for supportive supervision
    • Develop and initiate new ideas to improve how we provide technical assistance.
    • Manage project expenditures and track records to keep costs as low as possible
    • Alert the Program Manager to any arising risks, challenges and impediments to implementation
    • Drive data review meeting and reporting at sub county level

    Minimum Qualifications And Experience

    • Degree in health sciences.
    • Post-graduate training in Management or Public Health an added advantage.
    • 5 years or more experience bringing a sound understanding of the Kenya Health System and prior technical assistance work experience with and/or involving close association with national and county governments.
    • Experience working with community health workers and driving performance
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
    • Should be flexible and willing to travel across Kenya and primarily based in the field.
    • Good computer and analytical skills a must.
    • Able to manage priorities, take initiative, and work without constant supervision.
    • Honest, reliable, diplomatic and well organized.
    • Collaborative team player
