    Regional Awards (Grants) Coordinator - Roving

    This role will support the various Country Offices in East and South Africa, with short to midterm Awards Coordination support. The Roving Awards (Grants) Coordinator will when in-country support the Country Awards Lead in the planning, securing and managing of both development and humanitarian awards. The position plays a lead role in award information management and shares and coordinates information across departments when in country. Additionally, he/she will support the Head of Strategic Portfolio and Awards Management with dedicated support on high risk awards; and providing analysis; compliance capacity building and monitoring of all phases of awards. This role supports various countries in the ESA region, requiring up to 80% of travel
     

    Duration: 24 months
     

    Qualifications and Experience
     

    Essential
     

    • Undergraduate Degree in Business, Social Sciences, Finance, Accounting or any other related degree
    • Minimum 3 years' working in International Development with a specific emphasis of Fund Management, Project Management and / or Risk Management
    • At Least 3 years' experience managing and / or implementing USAID/USG grants or contracts
    • Knowledge of guidelines / regulations and reporting requirements of major donors such as EU, DFID, ECHO, UN agencies, DANIDA.
    • Experience in proposal development and coordination processes for complex awards.
    • Demonstrable financial skills, particularly, budget development, BvA Analysis and reporting
    • Ability to engage with and coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups.
    • Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
    • Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
    • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities
    • Strong communication (written and spoken) in the local language and minimum intermediate level in English.
    • Very strong capacity for attention to detail, problem solving, and analysis of trends.
    • Computer literate with very strong excel and analytical skills

    Desirable

    • Understanding of SCI Award Management Processes

    Regional Awards Analyst

    The purpose of this post is to lead on strategic portfolio planning and risk management through analysis and management information so as to inform strategic decision making. Under the direction of the Head of Strategic Portfolio and Award Management, the Awards Analyst, will complement efforts from PDQ, Programme Operations and Finance in ensuring that the SCI Country Offices are remaining competitive and are adhering to all its award management obligations internally within Save the Children and externally with donors.
     

    Duration: 24 months
     

    Qualifications and Experience
     

    Essential

    • Graduate qualification in Finance management, Grants management or equivalent.
    • At least 5 years' experience in project management, grants / contract management / fund management
    • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a demanding workload comprised of diverse and challenging tasks and responsibilities.
    • Experience with NGOs with increasing responsibilities including a proven experience of establishing and running the award management function in the field.
    • Knowledge of the requirements of major institutional donors including budgeting, eligibility issues, compliance management, and reporting.
    • Experience of engaging with donors at country strategy levels.
    • Experience of and well developed skills in staff management and supervision. Proven strong coaching and capacity building skills.
    • Very strong capacity for attention to detail, problem solving, and analysis of trends.
    • Computer literate with very strong excel and analytical skills.
    • Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
    • Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
    • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in managing multicultural teams.

    Desirable

    • Experience with Save the Children award management policies, procedures and systems and Save the Children's award management system (AMS).

    Counter Fraud Officer

    The individual will work closely with the Counter Fraud Specialist to ensure the continued development and embedding of an efficient and effective counter fraud framework and culture in the region, specifically:

    • Support the Counter Fraud Specialist in developing a proactive approach to fraud prevention and detection through data analytics;
    • Staying alert to emerging fraud trends in the sector and adapting analytical routines to address the new risks;
    • Support the Counter Fraud Specialist in producing fraud 'heat maps' as and when necessary to support the information requirements of the Head of Fraud, SCI SLT and other stakeholders; and
    • From time to time, support ongoing investigations that require specialist skills in data analysis, visualization.
    • Supporting the Regional Fraud Lead in the coordination of fraud management administration and communication in the East and Southern Africa (ESA), including:
    • Support in stakeholder communications relating to fraud incident reports and investigation updates
    • Support with case management and record updates and uploads to the case management system, Datix
    • Support in the planning and coordination of logistics for fraud trainings sessions conducted by the Regional Fraud lead and other members of the global fraud team (face-to-face awareness training, investigation trainings, Fraud Focal point trainings etc.)

    In the event of a significant or major event, the post-holder maybe expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly. The post-holder may be required to get involved in special projects within the fraud function as appropriate
     

    Duration: 12 months

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • Strong analytical skills to be able to identify fraud risk areas in complex operational environments from both structured (financial systems) and unstructured data (conversations, investigation reports, complaints etc.);
    • Demonstrable understanding of the importance of counter fraud activities and mechanisms for reducing fraud;
    • A proven experience in using data analytics software in an audit/risk/investigatory setting to identify and address red flags.
    • Excellent communicator and facilitator, able to clearly and confidently articulate and present findings with impact;
    • Strong negotiating skills to influence all levels of staff, showing ability to work collaboratively and with peers from different departments;
    • The ability to undertake occasional overseas travel;
    • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
    • Commitment to Save the Children values

    Desirable

    • Membership of a professional anti-fraud body and/or professional data analytics certification.
    • Knowledge of SCI systems including Agresso, TIM, ER/CAM, PPM Prime, Datix etc.
