Job Summary:

The successful candidates will be reporting to the Dean School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS). The incumbent will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in community service.

• Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
• Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
• Participate in program assessment and reviews.

• Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

• MA in the core areas above, but a PhD will be preferable
• Requisite skills in the use of technology in teaching

The Position

We are looking for visionary and proactive Creative Marketer who will be an artist manager and meets the following requirements:

• Have in the past created jobs for artists in music, film, theatre and dance.
• Have proven capacity to provide space (for events, rehearsals, etc) and/or institutionalize the creative curriculum.
• Ability to identify and get commitments for job opportunities in the creative sector.
• Proven experience working with the youth in the creative sector.
• Be a current resident of Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi or Kiambu counties.
• Have excellent communication and networking skills.
• Holders of a Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the mentors to finalize a professional bio/marketing profile template for the mentees.
• Identify and compile a database of potential employers for youth to gain experience and find job opportunities across the creative sector.
• Ensure at least 25 mentees have access to at least one monetization opportunity each per month.
• Collaborate with county-based mentors for the placement of mentees to the appropriate job opportunities.
• Organize one county-based mentorship and opportunity event in collaboration with the mentors and mentees.
• Prepare and submit progress reports.

The Position

We are looking for 40 visionary and proactive Creative Mentors in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi or Kiambu Counties who meet the following requirements:

• Have evidence of undertaking mentorship to youth in the creative sector
• Have proven capacity to provide space (for events, rehearsals, etc)
• Be willing to institutionalize the creative curriculum as part of capacity development.
• Proven experience working with the youth in the creative sector.
• Be actively involved in creative sector activities in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi or Kiambu counties.
• Have excellent communication and networking skills.
• Be adaptable and flexible so as to meet the unique needs of the CO-CARE mentees.
• Holders of a diploma or higher will have an added advantage.

Responsibilities

The Creative mentor will be tasked with:

• Providing visionary and inspirationalw leadership, personalized guidance and support to the mentees as per the CO-CARE guide.
• Developing technical skills of the mentees and providing guidance and feedback for improvement.
• Identifying job and gig opportunities for the mentees to earn an income in collaboration with the creative marketer.
• Supporting the project with monthly monitoring and reporting as per the tools provided.
• In collaboration with the creative marketer and the mentees, organize one county-based mentorship and opportunity event.
