Plan and execute audit assignments as per the approved audit plan.
Ensuring performance of quality audits, and production of quality internal audit reports with practical and agreeable corrective actions
Carry out analytical reviews of the root cause of the common/ recurrent audit findings and disseminate alerts and solution recommendations.
Checking that all activities and business processes done by the company are in conformity with the existing laws and regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Reviewing the adequacy, design and effectiveness of the Internal Control Systems, by monitoring the quality of such controls, detecting any weaknesses, and providing recommendations for improvement.
Conduct risk assessments and identify controls in place to mitigate identified risks
Recommends new policies, changes in policies, and/or procedures to increase the efficiency of operations and improve safeguards over the Group assets.
Checking that the business strategic plans and goals are aligned to work plans, budgets, and performance and measured against targets.
Issue tracking and validation of audit issues to ensure they are addressed within agreed timelines.
Minimum Requirements:
Master degree in a business related course will be an added advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fields
Must be a CPA finalist or ACCA Qualified
Strong understanding and experience with IFRS, International Standards on Auditing, and other assurance based reporting standards.
Understanding and knowledge of testing both internal control tests of designs and internal control tests of effectiveness
Draft, develop, review, and prepare various types of contracts including service level agreements, Annual maintenance and Service Contracts, Project Contracts, partnership agreements, third-party and/or sub-contract agreements, Employee Contracts, Service
Provider Contracts and ICT agreements ensure that they are legally sound comply with companies’ policies and procedures, and mitigate risks.
Contract management and administration to ensure compliance and renewals as and when appropriate.
Drafting, development, review, and negotiations of Lease for new premises and facilitation with the registration of the same.
Review legislation and advise Management on how the Company’s operations shall be affected in order to avoid any potential liabilities that could arise.
Provide general legal advice to USL & affiliated companies on various legal issues affecting its operations.
Regular staff training to keep staff up to date with changes in legislation and regulations and to raise awareness of legal risks and issues within the business.
Research various legal issues affecting USL & affiliated and prepare legal opinions to relevant units and stakeholders.
Give legal advice on compliance with the labour laws, management of disciplinary matters in compliance with the law and guidance on emerging legal matters relating to Employer/Employee relations.
Review and understand USL & affiliated ’s internal Policies and Procedures and ensure consistency with the organizations’ strategic goals and with the legal and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and submit monthly monitoring reports and other periodic or special legal reports.
Maintain a comprehensive database of all legal matters with up-to-date status reports.
Preparation of court pleadings and attending to court matters.
Implement legal policies, and procedures and ensure delivery of the strategy under the set timeless.
Draft and/or review legal documents, and instruments and monitor legal obligations.
Respond to demand letters and deal with disputes arising from any engagement by the
affiliated companies.
Attend to debt collection internally and externally in liaison with credit control and external legal counsel.
Support the affiliate companies in tracking the status of customer complaints and providing mitigation measures where necessary to ensure minimum exposure to the Company
Participating in any other duties that shall be reasonably assigned by Management from time to time
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B) from a recognized University
A registered CPS(K)
A postgraduate business degree shall be an added advantage
An advocate of the High Court of Kenya holding a valid practicing certificate with at least
8+ years post admission experience; 5 years of which should be in a legal corporate environment;
Experience of liaising with regulators, lawyers and auditors.
