    Human Resources Manager, East Africa

    Job Outline

    The HR Manager, East Africa, will support the business in the day-to-day running of the HR function across the East Africa region, in support of administration and management employees. Main responsibilities are to develop, document and implement HR processes, procedures, and tools to include:

    Recruitment and Selection

    • Working with senior leaders and the operations team, responsible for talent acquisition of management level personnel across the region, including job requisition, attraction, recruitment, and selection.
    • Manage the on-boarding and induction processes, to include contracting and pre-employment screening (background checks) and aptitude assessments.
    • Manage the off-boarding process.

    Performance Management

    • Responsible for the implementation of the annual and mid-year performance reviews.
    • Manages end of probation period review.
    • Responsible for implementation and management of performance improvement plans when required.

    Employee Relations

    • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
    • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth, and ensures appropriate and consistent consequence management.
    • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company.
    • Reviews and guides management recommendations for employment terminations .
    • Reviews employee appeals through the company complaint procedure and deals with HR related grievances.

    Training and Development

    • Identify training needs and create or procure professional development curriculum.
    • Monitor and identify training programs to ensure that training objectives are met.

    Compensation And Benefits

    • Manages and implements the company compensation and benefits structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and increases.
    • Manages participation in at least one East Africa salary survey every 2 years
    • Manage benchmarking process (currently Korn Ferry Hay) for measuring and managing remuneration levels
    • Obtains cost-effective, employee serving benefits ; monitors national benefits environment for options and cost savings.
    • Recommends changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.

    HRIS

    • Management of the Human Resources sections of online systems and services, applicant tracking system, leave management and other company information systems, and intranet sites.
    • Utilizes Human Resources Information Software (HRIS) to the company's recordkeeping and management advantage to include monthly reporting on turnover, absenteeism, exit data.

    General

    • Responsible for instructing finance of any payroll changes
    • Implement and work with compliance matters.
    • Development and implementation of HR policy including Employee Handbooks.
    • Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; collaborate with the legal department when necessary.
    • With the MD, East Africa and HRD, works to build an ethical, innovative, and committed culture in support of the company’s values, and to support employee satisfaction.

    Accountability

    • The HR Manager is accountable to the Director, HR for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.

    Integrated Solutions Manager

    Job Summary

    Develop and manage the Integrated Solutions Business in Kenya. This is a client facing role with a strong emphasis on the integration of technology to reduce a client's overall risk profile and to deliver cost and operational efficiencies to their operations. The ISM will lead and be responsible for all Technical Sales (including survey, design, presenting, negotiating and closing etc.). The role will also be responsible for all technical operations

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the P & L and operations of the Business Unit to deliver a) exceptional value to our clients, b) sustainable month on month organic growth to meet and exceed budget and c) a truly aligned high performing team
    • Work in close co-operation with the head of sales, CRM's and Operational team in developing integrated technology solutions for the Kenya market. Actively promoting and developing the integrated solution business with current and new clients
    • Responsible for the in time and in budget implementation of projects; lead in the development of the business unit’s budgets and strategies to achieve it's growth plans. Lead and monitor the implementation of approved budgets and plans. Develop organisational arrangements, systems and processes to enable the efficient and effective deployment of resources in line with business QA and growth requirements
    • Manage client relationships by giving regular updates and convening meetings to ensure compliance with service delivery expectations and SLA's
    • Provide leadership and direction for the integrated solutions operations team. Manage staff up-skilling within the department to meet current and planned outputs; build and maintain talent infrastructure and employee development by assessing capability, identifying gaps and designing training programs as part of a succession plan
    • Responsible for cost and pricing of all integrated solutions proposals and working with the Commercial Support Team to develop the Technical proposal (including all the necessary technical drawings, designs and equipment specification sheets etc.)
    • Work within the senior management team in the development and achievement of collective goals (specifically in support of the country's sales efforts)
    • Develop and deliver robust internal and external performance reports. Contribute to the development and delivery of accurate financial reports to the Managing Director
    • Facilitate the internal audit process and be responsible for implementing the ensuing action plans. Manage and maintain the business line SG&A budget and ruthlessly control project costs to ensure maximum profitability
    • Mobilise new contract wins with the in-house team and where necessary, specific project teams. Full and accurate understanding of the project deliverables and SLA's which must be briefed to the client and your Line Manager as needed
    • Deliver a rolling operational excellence programme to include:
    • Training and certification of technical staff on the applicable systems provided by OEM's
    • Business development training to all staff
    • Health and Safety programme that includes the implementation of Toolbox talks and Risk Assessments
    • Upskilling and implementing the training programme for all staff within the business unit
    • Ensuring all technicians are equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment
    • Implementing the customer service communications and maintenance protocol through CRM
    • Managing the service / maintenance schedule through CRM's Field Service Management platform
    • Work with HR to manage the GW Awards and MRT of the Month Awards
    • Responsible for only deploying equipment, systems and technologies which are compliant with the SS-MEA integrated solutions standard and or have been approved by the SS-MEA Technical Solutions Director
    • Responsible for all the business unit's sales and business development. Provide any and all support to the Company's marketing activities such as sales campaigns, conferences and presentations, sporting events etc. Lead on any specific POC's to support sales efforts and or the trial of new equipment / technologies for the company

    Principal Outputs Of This Role

    • Development of a country level integrated solutions strategy and targets to deliver the business unit's budget
    • Create and maintain a truly aligned, motivated high performing team
    • Deliver regular training sessions to the business unit team and the wider company on the SS-MEA latest thinking for the integrated solutions value proposition, new equipment and technologies being rolled out across the MEA platform
    • Managing the business unit's SG&A budget and ensuring maximum profitability on projects through strict cost management
    • Managing alarm and tracking terminations to at a minimum 5% below budget to enhance overall net sales peformance

    • As defined by the Country Director and SS-MEA Technical Solutions Director

    Accountability

    • The ISM is accountable to the Managing Director, Kenya for the responsibilities specified above. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Technical business development experience in IT, Network, CCTV, Access Control, Fire Detection, Fire Suppresion, VMS, PIDS, C3 and integrated solution design
    • Proven track record in leading technical operations teams along with separate project specific delivery teams
    • Minimum ten (10) years’ Security service experience with at least 5 years in a senior position in the commercial security service industry
    • Technical understanding of commercial security and integrated technical solution
    • Demonstratable experience of delivering innovative integrated solutions for clients where their risks / losses were better mitigated / reduced and delivered operational and cost efficiencies
    • Solid appreciation of financial models and proven ability to deliver stretching financial and non-financial targets
    • Experience of developing individuals and fostering their career advancement including suitable coaching and mentoring abilities
    • Proficiency in ICT and Communications
