    Assistant Flight Operations Engineer

    Job Purpose:

    To set up and manage an organized Flight Operations and Aircraft Libraries as per the requirements of the Operations Manual and KCARs.

    Principal Accountabilities (KEY Performance areas):

    • Manage an organized Flight Operations and Aircraft Libraries that contain current Flight Operations Manuals as required by KCARS and KQ policies.
    • Ensure applicable manuals are distributed as per the distribution lists before the manual effective dates.
    • Manage the proper storage of navigation envelopes as per the Retention Schedule.
    • Manage the disposal of the Flight Operations documents and records as per the company disposal procedures.
    • Ensure that the digital and paper flight deck library is always updated to the required operational safety standards while maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction.
    • Update the aircraft library catalogue to reflect the current revision status of each document on the flight deck.
    • Review the Chart NOTAMS and Liaise with Flight Operations Engineers (Navigation and Infrastructure) for further action.
    • Track expiry dates for aircraft certificates and prompt the librarian for appropriate action.
    • Identify, procure, and replenish commonly used documents to ensure timely replacement of worn out or missing copies.
    • Ensure implementation of safety, security, and emergency standards at all times.
    • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment in compliance with the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities, and requirements of customer airlines.

    Knowledge, Skills and experience:

    • Certificate in Aeronautical Information Services or Flight Dispatch.
    • Computer literate
    • Relevant experience is an added advantage.
    • Driving license for Class B and C vehicles is an added advantage.

    Flight Operations Engineer (Navigation and Infrastructure)

    Job Purpose:

    To gather, decode, interpret, and provide aeronautical and flight planning information to ensure safe and efficient operation of all Kenya Airways flights.

    Principal Accountabilities (KEY Performance areas):

    • Gather, decode, interpret, provide, and advise aeronautical information to ensure sufficient information for the safe operation of all flights.
    • Verify and recommend for approval user charges invoices in our route network to ensure correct billing and appropriate follow-up on undercharges/ overcharges.
    • Conduct quality audits, inspections and survey of destinations, alternates, and routes, so as to maintain corporate quality safety and security.
    • Study and communicate new and future industry developments in regard to navigation and infrastructure and their impact on the company to ensure competence and compliance in good time of Current and future air navigation systems.
    • Continuously review routes in the flight planning system.
    • Generate, verify, and provide FMC Navigation and Terrain (EGPWS) databases for each AIRAC cycle for all aircraft for scheduled and non-scheduled flights.
    • Ensure the flight planning database is updated with the current navigation costs and aircraft navigation and communication specifications for the entire route network.
    • Ensure implementation of safety, security, and emergency standards at all times.
    • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment in compliance with the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities, and requirements of customer airlines.

    Knowledge, Skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Business Management (Aviation Option)
    • Certificate in Dispatch OR CPL/ATC/Flight Dispatch.
    • Certificate in Aircraft Performance Specific or Aircraft Performance Software or Diploma in IT (Desirable)
    • At least 3 years relevant experience
