    Kippra Self Sponsored Young Professionals Programme 2025/2026

    Job Description

    • In line with The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA)’s mandate of developing human and institutional capacities to formulate medium and long-term strategic perspectives for national development, KIPPRA runs a Young Professionals programme as a means of ensuring sustainable development through supply of adequate human capital for effecting public policy processes. The Institute is therefore inviting applications to fill ten (10) self/institution-sponsored vacant positions.
    • The programme is physical and full-time. It is an annual programme, and it includes both coursework and publication of various research outputs. Areas of coursework include the public policy-making process, Introduction to the legislative process, applied research methods, Tools for policy analysis, Governance structures in a Devolved system of Government, Monitoring and Evaluation, Macroeconomic Modeling and Forecasting, Systems of National Accounts and Introduction to Social Accounting Matrix (SAM). By the end of the programme the participants are expected to publish various research outputs.
    • The objective of the YP Programme is to develop young professionals in public policy research and analysis and offer them an opportunity to gain on-the-job experience, expand their knowledge, leadership skills and build professional networks.     Job Specification

    • Qualifications for admission to the Programme
    • For admission into the programme, the following are the minimum qualifications:
    • Master’s Degree;
    • Be below 40 years of age;

    Competencies

    • Have strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and be results-oriented;
    • Be computer literate including knowledge in at least a statistical package (R, STATA, SPSS, E-VIEWS, etc.);
    • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Be fluent in English;
    • Be persons legally living in the country at the time of participating in the programme

    In addition to the qualifications set above, successful Candidates will be required to obtain and submit copies of clearance certificates from the following Agencies: 

    • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
    • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
    • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
    • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
    • Applicants from the Public Sector will be required to submit an endorsement letter from the Principal Secretary/County Secretary/CEO of their respective Ministry, County Department or Agency respectively.
    • Non-Kenyans will be required to provide proof of a permit to live and study in the Country
    • Self-sponsored are admitted upon payment of a fee amounting to Ksh. 207,146 which cover course fees and course materials.

    Short Term Fixed Contract Staff, Research Assistant and Casuals

    Qualifications and Basic Requirements for Fixed Term Contract Technical Departments and Research Assistants

    • The Fixed Term Contract staff are engaged for a defined period of time for a position that is in the staff establishment and has an approved budget and the role support of both Research Departments. The role of the Research Assistant involves aiding primary researchers in gathering data and information via studies, surveys, and other methods relevant to a project and its associated activities. The functions require a Minimum of a Master’s degree from a recognized Institution in the following disciplines: Economics or related Social Sciences, Curriculum Development, Gender Studies, Public Policy, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Criminology, Governance, Urban Planning, Agriculture, Political Science, Library & Information, Information Science, Publishing,

    Personal Attributes:

    • Should possess interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Be fluent in English; and
    • Knowledge of basic statistical software for data entry, extraction and reporting including (STATA, SPSS, E-VIEWS)
    • For graphic designers to possess computer Skills in desktop publishing software’s;

    Qualifications and Basic Requirements for Fixed Term Contract Support Departments and Divisions

    • The Fixed Term Contract staff are engaged for a defined period of time for a position that is in the staff establishment and has an approved budget and the role support of both Research and non-research Departments. The functions require a Minimum of a Diploma or a First degree from a recognized Institution in the following disciplines: Finance/Accounting, Supply chain Management, Human Resource Management, Communication, ICT, Law, Records Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Administration, Business & Office Management, Secretarial Studies, CPA (K), KNEC Craft Certificate in Secretarial Studies with Short hand III (minimum 120 w.p.m); Typewriting III ( 50 w.p.m) Computerized Document Processing III & Business English III/Communication III and any other relevant qualifications from a recognized Institution.

    Personal Attributes:

    • Should possess interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Be fluent in English; and
    • Computer Skills
    • CASUALS
    • The Institute is looking for Casual Employees to support the operations in the Institute on an as-needed basis. This role requires flexibility and adaptability to perform various tasks based on business requirements. The Casual Maintain workplace cleanliness and follow health & safety guidelines. Assist in (specific tasks Including, stock handling, administrative work, etc.)

    Qualifications and Basic Requirements for Casuals:

    • Must have at least a Form 4 certificate (high school completion). A college certificate in any field will be an added advantage. Must reside in Nairobi or its immediate surroundings.
